I think you already know that the radiations comes from all of the possible angles due to the rotations of the satellite. So I think that a minimum aluminium thikness is required...

in fact this is one possibility, but I do not know if it is enough to damp the structure. and to test the satellite continuously will dammage (fatigue) the structure.
I do not know if ribs in the structure could help.
