Thanks itdepends, yes in this finely divided form the Al powder is pyrophoric hence it needs to be kept under inert gas from its formation until we can meter it into our system.

Thanks you very much I now have 3 options I did not have yesterday, including a non-commercial one if there is nothing off the shelf.
I am however still open to suggestions just in case these pathways prove unsuitable for this system.

Dear Eng-Tipers,
We are trying to find a device capable of metering fine powder (atomised aluminum-d50=15 microns) on a gravimetric basis at rates as low as 300g/h (10oz/h). Most off the shelf loss-in-weight units we have identified are unable to control at such low flows. The...
I am trying to generate a curve for the vapour pressure of liquid zinc chloride as a function of temperature. If anyone has a reference I would be very greatful. Alternatively if anyone knows the Antoine coefficients for zinc chloride that would help me out.
Thanks in advance,

Dear All,
we are trying to pump 15 lpm odourless kerosene for continuous operation (hours at a time).
We have tried both 17 lpm and 30 lpm vane pumps designed for organic use (diesel, kero, light oils). In both cases the flow rate starts at a reasonably acceptable level (about 14 lpm) and drops...
We are trying to reduce the pulse delivery of powder from a screw feeder operating at the bottom of its speed limit. Does anyone have any clever ideas for modifying the delivery tube to reduce this effect??
Thanks in advance,

I would be interested from hearing from anyone with experience in containing superheated (900-1000C) titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) vapour. It appears that the TiCl4 manufacturing process deals with such superheated vapours, however details of the materials employed do not seem to be in the...

Dear Hacksaw,
Thanks for the benifit of your wisdom. The resources avaiable here are limited but your comments about any changes being major and worthy of HAZOP are right on the money. But at least I have more options than I started with.
Best Regards,

Dear hacksaw,
In this case I need to identify loss of combustion, particularly during start-up from cold. I like the idea of a temperature based solution which I assume looks for a continual increase in temperature as proof of combustion. If so, how is the bet way to interface such...
Dear Eng-Tipsters,
Help! I am stick in rural India commissioning a rice hull furnace. Due to the lack of propane we need to modify the start-up sequence to start with rice-hulls from cold. We have propane pilot burners monitored by a BMS as an ignition source and overall PLC...
