    Carburetor Booster Vacuum

well, delivery trucks with GM motors and some dodge diesels have a vacuum guage on the air filter box. it records the highest vacuum and sticks so you know when to change the air filter. if you could hook it up to a hose and plug that hose to where you want to take a reading from that may work...

    Cleaning carbon deposits, recommended cleaners

ive had cars that blew head gaskets and had significant water (coolant) go through the exhaust, the o2 sensor functioned but when put on the scope the waveform was very "dirty" and "spikey" not smooth like it should have been. so yea a lot of water will ruin it.

    FE crankshaft

1UB is: (dramatic music plays) was used in 1969-70 PI and Cobra Jet. so you do have a cobra jet crank. other casting for cj cranks are: IU IUB A IUA B these are 3.98" stroke cranks as opposed to 3.78 in the FE. if anyone else needs ford v8 part/casting numbers let me know.

engine coolant additives, redline water wetter etc.

This stuff is starting to sound like slick 50, I think there isnt enough teflon in my bearings. i agree about swithing to a lower temp thermostat, i guess if the problem was bad enough just a restrictor could be used in it s place. thanks for the input.
