Increasing exhaust valve size 8v turbo engine

The engine im using is a petrol motor.Im at the smallest a/r .63 tial cast stainless housing so other than changing the turbo the only other option i have really is to make the motor more efficient off boost so when it does start to boost the exhaust temperature rises faster thus faster boost...

Increasing exhaust valve size 8v turbo engine

Hello All,Its been a while since i was last on here.I currently drive a vw golf 2.0 8v turbo, which ive fitted a new beetle crossflow head to.The motor has forged turbo spec pistons and h beam rods with std crank, ive fitted a Cat Cams rally cross turbo spec cam with std inlet valves size is 39mm...

    Stop-start cars

VW had stop start systems on various model in the early 80s.1 model i had experience of was a 1.8 passat,a brilliant systems just very unnerving sat at traffic lights with no engine running!!Would only work when clutch fully pressed, you would press button on end of indicator stalk, the engine...

    Diesel fuel/air ratio

Suddenly Greg i just got it!!so the reason it is a red herring is due to the fact the diesel is injected into compressed and heated air into the cylinder and not into the airstream as a petrol.

    Diesel fuel/air ratio

    Whats an aneroid valve?

    Diesel fuel/air ratio

Seems to me Audi got the ratio pretty much spot on judging by the lack of smoke and noise on the R10 at Sebring.

    Diesel fuel/air ratio

I will be using a lambda sensor and reader to keep track of emissions. There are some pictures of my turbo install on tdi club website on the news from the batcave thread.

    Diesel fuel/air ratio

Wow some good info fellas thanks, especially about oxygen levels in exhaust.Ive been toying with the idea of installing a lambda sensor to keep track of oxygen levels but ive not had a base reading to go for.Ill tell you all the base of what im doing,im building a Golf a2 with a 16v 2.0 tdi...

    Diesel fuel/air ratio

Thanks all for your in put basically the ratio is almost the same a petrol motor from what i can gather, not what expected!!

    Diesel fuel/air ratio

The lastest VW 16v 2.0 tdi engines have a motorised throttle body and lambda sensors to part control egr and fuel ratio. The reason for my question is to work out engine power after cylinder head flow before and after porting.I will be racing and using on the roads 1 of these engines in a mk 2...

    Diesels at Le Mans

The engine they used in the le mans car backed by catapillar is the v10 tdi from a vw toureg. There were only a couple of big problems they encountered 1 being finding a 12v starter with enough power! and the other was the engines physical height with the sump so it was dry sumped, but the torque...

    Connecting rod shape

If you take a look on our website centralvwaudi.com and click on the tech button youll see the i beam rods i had made by farndon engineering, and theres a picture of the new rod next to a std rod.I had them made as i bent all the rods in both directions basically shortening the rod by 2mm.

    Methanol in Diesels

No not joking it is a daily driver. The methanol has its own fuel supply stainless tank, pump, plastic fuel lines, filters and fuel rail.I found out that because i reduced the compression to run higher boost ive needed to run the injection timing quite advanced but now the pistons are std un...
