    Version without opening?

Is there any way to tell what version of AutoCAD a drawing was saved in without opening the file? I have a directory that has been opened by numerous people with numerous versions, but I need to know what drawings were saved as 2000 and which need to be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    TS Material?

I just received a drawing on my desk with a callout which reads " TS6" x .5" x 1" " and also " TS1 1/2" x 1" x 2" " What does this "TS" mean? I believe it is a material callout, as these are callouts to 2 seperate pieces welded together for a bracket. I have never seen this before, can anyone...

    Specing Finishes and Materials

I am a newly promoted "Mechanical Designer" from Sr. Draftsman (I am only 21) and am responsible for creating new standards and drafting practices for our department. My question is: How do you normally depict finishes and materials on detail/fabrication drawings? For example, I have a bracket...

    ctb VS stb

We recently received drawings from a customer that try to plot using only stb plot styles (named plot styles) I don't have a lot of experience with these, I've always used color dependant plot styles (ctb) I understand it is associated with the layout and drawing specific. I need to know how to...

Wipeout or hiding text on an inserted Raster Image

There is also a command called wipeout. Type in wipeout, and it will ask you for a polyline or frames. Type in polyline and either select a enclosed polyline you've already made or create a new rectangle. type in wipeout again and enter f for frames, and you can turn the frame or outline of the...

    Autodesk: Inventor Pro 9

Inventor is a completely different animal then AutoCAD. The modeling is a completely different way of thinknig than AutoCAD. Everything in Inventor is dimension based as opposed to object based (to stretch an object, you change the dimension, not offset faces.) My company recently bought the...

    UCS STabilty

Hopefully a simple question. While working in 3D modelspace, my ucs stays oriented to the TOP view, meaning anytime I'm in another view, say FRONT, I cannot rotate an object based on how I am currently looking at the object. Basically, I want the UCS to always be in the x,y coordinate plane, no...

    Unable to Open

I'm trying to open a file created in another department. I was told it was created with Mechanical 2005 (which is what I'm running) But when I do anything to open the file, after coming up as a read only (I just tell it to open read only anyway) it comes up with the following message: Access...

    Layer Window in Mechaical 2005

I am finding a HUGE lag in the 2005 mechanical layer manager. It'll take forever to actually load the layers, and even then it doesn't actually show the layer states (I can move the mouse over the thaw or freeze and select it, but I can't actually see the icon to know what it curently is) any...

    2005 Express

I just loaded up my new seat of Inventor with Mechanical Desktop 2005. My problem comes when I try to add my express tools. I have a 2004 full cd that has the express tools, but it will not install them in any 2005 programs. I tried to simply copy the files from my laptop (which has 2004 and...

    HELP W/ AUTOCAD HIDE PLOTTING

type in DISPSILH and set it to 1. This suppresses the extra curve lines. Also, just typing in "hi" used to shade the object relatively clean.
