I'm new to composite modeling and recently I have a task to create a laminate composite model in Patran.
What is the best way to create joint? In metallic part, I can use RBE2 element to connect the nodes around the fastener hole, but for laminate, is the same method still apply?
Also, all...
Hi all, I found this website very helpful and Im hoping to get a helping hand to answer the following question.
Is it correct to model a structrue (e.g:cabinet) by assigning mass density to all the material and then apply acceleration factor to the model? can this method be used at all model?
Does anyone have any reference(s) to calculate the rotational stiffness for CBUSH in FEM to account for the moments due to the heel-to-toe effect for a L-angle?
Gbor: Tha's what I was doing by importing the solidworks
model as IGES file and create midplane of each
surface in FEMAP and delete the inner and outer
surfaces then mesh.
ThomasH: I agree.
ProbaSci: Yes, but you have to create midplane for each
surface, it'll...
Dear all. I'm hoping some of you could help solving the following issue:
I have a Solidworks assembly model. I transfer the solidworks model to Femap and the model is showing the actual thickness. Lets say I have to mesh the model using CQUAD, I must find the midplane of every individual...
Thank you all for your suggestions. Yes, I have read quite a lot of postings on different forums and I dont get a specific way to model it.
SWComposites: I'm new in using Femap and Nastran for modeling and getting result. Thus, I'm modeling a simple model by connecting two plate elements using...
I'm modeling a fastener in FEM, which of the following should be used? DOF spring or RBE3. My understanding is, RBE3 gives a more realistic results. Please share this knowledge and if you have any reference, that would be great too. Thanks.
I have been using "Swift - Repairs to Damage Tolerant Aircraft" reference to calculate fastener stiffness for the FEM. Is this a good reference? or there are other correct way to calculate fastener stiffness? any suggestions willbe appreciated.
as u said, ppl r volunteer and I dont think I'm wasting anyone's time here, in fact, not all ppl know the other site so this could be a useful question to others who is using this forum. I apologize if i waste ur time and make u spend more time to type such comment.
IRstuff, yes, I have posted the same question on Mathcad Collab, and I just wanna get the answer quicker so that I can move on. I'm learning Mathcad by myself as I think it is an ease to put all the useful equations/calculations together for future use. Thank you all of you for the helpful answer.
I'm a new user of mathcad and I'm trying to plot the 2D interaction curves for equation X^3 + Y^2 = 1. I got the plot for this equation, however, when I enter my tensile ratio and shear ratio, how do i plot the linear curve to intersect the equation mentioned above and then give me the results...
Thank you dmacx. What if my model is a 3D box. In aircraft axis, view looking forward , i have a plate in Y-Z axis and view looking to the side is X-Z axis. so, in the result, how do I determine/know which axis or direction it refers to since the result for all view are in X and Y on F06...
I'm just started using Femap few months ago and I have a question. I'm looking for the compressive load at the edge of the plate in which the model is 3D. For some reason, only normal X, normal Y and Shear XY are available in the contour option. There's no z direction, how do I determine my...
I modeled a structure using FEMAP and run the NASTRAN and it gives me a high value of epsilon (E+14). There's no singularities, nor free edge. What else could cause this problem?
