To All,
You all are awesome and thanks so much for your valuable input.
Based on all the feedback a eccentric cweight might be the best approach. I can afford a slight rock. My best guess at this point stationary A should be 300 pounds. A counter weight hanging off the bottom and...
Hello again,
I have a new pdf showing the gyroscope cweight to keep B from rotating.
Guys , Will this fly?

I have a rotating structure A that rotates at a slow 1 rpm. Attached to one end via a turn-table bearing I have structure B.
I do not want B to rotate and cannot fix it to any...
Thanks All,
A gyro type is what I had in mind. I think it would work but not sure how to size a wheel.
Yes. Shaft A is horizontal. I have room for a large weight at bottom but as you pointed out it still could move slightly.
Magnet would work except anything off the sides, top or bottom is...
Calling on hard-core mechanical engineers. I am an ME but this is above me.
I have a rotating structure A that rotates at a slow 1 rpm. Attached to one end via a turn-table bearing I have structure B.
I do not want B to rotate and cannot fix it to any thing external. There will be a very...
Hello,
Any ideas on a linkage to move a plate in horizontally (approx 6 ft) , stop, then raise vertically (approx 1 ft) I would like to have one drive (linear actuator, etc) for both motions
Maybe some four bar linkage? I cannot figure out a simple design.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.
Thanks. I have been checking out the Rotek Slewing Bearing and thier engineering assistance. I am doing a first rough pass but will employ a PE with Cosomos experience soon.
Thanks for the advise on counter weighting.
Hello, Trying to size a bearing/s that can take an offset loads. Approximately 5000 lbs @ 131 inchs & 2500 lbs @ 9 in away from first bearing or pair. Bearings are mounted vertically.
I am allowed 1mm deflection and speed is very slow 5 rmp. Smallest bore the better.
We also might add...
Thanks btrueblood & clyde for you reply.
Still have issuses with oring groove size.
The 9.125 bore is fixed. I can make the plug and groove diameter anything that holds a vac seal. I also would like to use a standard oring. Maybe a 446?
I have used the on-line calculator but the values do...
Using the standard Parker Oring design catalog (yes, I still use one) It tell you everthing, piston size, groove dimensions, etc for a std 9.000 bore. I am slightly non-standard. 9.125 bore. How can I re-size all the values and still hold a vacuum?
Any help would be appreaciated.
Hello,
I am needing to "cool" a 8 inch od pipe and ideally a quick install water jacket or belt to chill outside surface. 1 inch wide belt with water connections. We have chilled water. Just something to take the heat 200 degree away.
Is there such a product? I can always design my oen but...
