I did a google search a few months back and found data....it is out there........rough check the thread gage to where the flat is and that should give a good idea of how deep to go
Those are the shapes of the inserts......ex CNMG is a somewhat diamond shape (4 sides)....WNMG is a somewhat triangle shape (3 sides).....VNMG is a very steep diamond shape (4 sides)....good for profiling where a lot a clearance is needed....etc......any good catalog will describe each shape.
I think they're the only ones......you could contact Methods Machine Tools...they are the exclusive dealers for Nakamura in the US. I think we got ours from Methods but it might have been sold through Koma to Methods to our shop....it's been a while not 100% sure.
Good Luck,

17-4PH SST (cond 1075)is easliy machined with coated carbide tools. Get SFM (surface feet/minute) and chip load(ipt, inch/tooth) from tool supplier/manufacturer. We machine (mill) 17-4PH (cond 1075) all the time. It machines much nicer in this condition opposed to the annealed state (too...
Does anyone see a problem welding 316L SST to 316 SST. I think we've had it done before (by our welding vendor) but I forget....and I can't reach him for a few days to ask him.
Thanks,
Kevin
jbel,
What are you using for tooling?....we've done some hard machining but not too much. I'm using Tek-Soft CAD/CAM and a Matsuura RAIII for the job. We machine 95% then HT and grind before plating. I'm assuming you mean light DOC and fast feeds when you say high speed principles. I've...
We have a job at work that requires HT of 01 tool steel to about 45Rc. Any ideas on what it will do while heat treated...bend, distort, shrink, expand the part is about 3.00" long, .500" wide and .250" thick with a slot in the center (.562 long & all the way through) and a "leg" or "step" milled...
You could try stress relieving the piece. Take a cut on both side to get the "skin" off. Then stress relief (call a Heat Treater)...then finish machine the thickness....do you have a vacuum chuck (it would be a big one)?
Check out a Matsuura....well worth the $...I wish the US would make a machine this good. Methods Machine Tools is the only US distributor....good luck....let us kow what you buy. We have a bunch of "Mats" here and love 'em all...(wouldn't buy anything else)....Check out Nakamura Lathes if you...
McGuinness,
I know this is a few months late but use an OSG EX GOLD DRILL.....made by OSG......they are amazing......we make a particular part here at work from 316SST with approx 400 holes in it (looks like a pasta strainer) and those drills do a great job....without a burr on the "break thru"...
