IEEE standard for protective relaying for generators

I thought about that, but looking at the one-line it appears that the voltage regulator looks at a different set of generator PT's, Making the V/Hz voltage input and the Regulator inputs seperate.

IEEE standard for protective relaying for generators

I looked over the standard and I do agree that I need to get the manufacturer limits to accuratley set the relay. I know for sure now that the generator protection relay is set wrong for V/Hz protection because it is set to trip on an inverse time curve at a time of 139 seconds at 115% V/Hz...

IEEE standard for protective relaying for generators

I have looked at both. The AC protection for Generators does not provide me with a curve for Volts per Hertz protection. the only curve I could see is one that shows how different relays will react to under frequency condidtions. I am looking for curve that shows %Volts/Hz vs Operate...

V/Hz Setting on a generator relay

Looking at the V/Hz setting on a generator relay I believe the setting to be suspect. they use a inverse time curve for the V/Hz trip which has a delay of 45 seconds!!!!!!! At this time delay, the relay would not trip until 2.3 minutes has passed at 115% pick up!!! The settings of this relay...

IEEE standard for protective relaying for generators

I tried searching the IEEE website but I could not browse it as it is acting funky. I do have a user name and password but still....the site isn't working for me. Anyway I have a bunch of standards filled away but they are not labled by title they are labled by standard number...I.E...

    Ferranti-Packard Transformer

I am currently looking for the Over Excitation curves for a Ferranti-Packard Transformer. I am not asking any of you to find me the curves or anything. I am trying to find there home page so I can get a contact, but I am having trouble. Does anyone know if they were bought out? Powels maybe...

    Required experience for PE exam

In the state of maine It is required that you not have 4 years of experience but you have 6 years working under a liceneced PE. I would imagine that the same type of regulations are common in all states but I am not sure. One this is a fact though, The PE that is issued in a certain state is...

    CircuitBreaker

OK circuit breakers are mechanical devices that break a circuit...the "Interupter" is a component of the circuit breaker that helps to extinguish the arc. The "Vaccum Interupters" are simply vaccum bottles that the contacts of the breaker are incased in, when the breaker opens...the vaccum...

Volts/HZ vs 5th Harmonic over Excitation XFMR Protection

Thanks for the info! The intent is to take both the generator curves and the Transformer curves and choose an Over Excitation Setting that will protect both. As crazy as it sounds, neither have protection for Over Excitation right now. I think I will go with V/Hz

    Relay test equipment

I currently Use the doble 6150 relay test set and I love it! It is light weight, it can support 6 voltages and 6 currents (lower VA of course) and it comes with software that has a good range of Macros (to help automate tests...very good for Ohmic Reach circles) We also have an Omicron Relay...

Volts/HZ vs 5th Harmonic over Excitation XFMR Protection

I am currently developing the settings for a GE Transformer relay. The transformer is connected to a generator and I have to develop settings for over excitation protection. The relay offers overexitation protection by tripping on Volts/Hz or by tripping on the 5th harmonic level. Is there an...

    Doble F6150/ProTest Test Plans

I Have used the 6150 and have tested nearly every type of SEL relay out there, Unfortunatley I can't just give you macros as my company has paid me to develop them and by all rights, the macros belong to them. I can however give you pointers on any specifics you may have, or info on how to run...

    Primary and secondary injection testing

to test CT strings as a whole, I would simply put current on the CT secondaries in the string. I would put .5 amps on phase A, 1 amp on phase B, and 1.5 amps on phase C. This will check for rolled wires, holes in the circuit, and it will also verify any metering. Keep in mind this is not a full...

    dc power boost

I have not done the calculations but to boost the DC source you could put it through an inverter to make it AC, step up the voltage with some type of AUxilary transformer, and use a rectifier on the transformer output to turn the power back to DC. To limit the current to a particular load, set...

    Switchgear Maintenance

the bible to testing specifications is most definatley NETA (international electrical testing association) They have 2 books that tell you how to test everything. the two books I go buy are the "Acceptance Testing Specifications" - for brand new equipment "Maintenance Testing...
