Is this true for a balanced 3 phase system?

short circuit tensile forces vs compressive forces

Are the compressive forces acting on a 3 phase bus brace always less than the tensile forces? I say yes, but I am having a hard time to explain this to someone. Am I missing anything? This is my explanation – sum of current in three phases should be zero at any point of time. So, higher currents...

    Prototype Thermoset part

Is it possible to prototype a part that will resemble a part made of sheet molded compound. The tensile strength needs to be 14 KSI and compressive strength is 30KSI. I am not familiar with plastics. So please advice. Thanks

    Short circuit forces - Direction?

Thanks everyone, great information. Now, would it be safe to assume for my pro/mechanica analysis for a symmetrical 3phase fault, that the brace would be seeing a force of say 1000lbs on A and 1000lbs on C phase going in the opposite directions, cause B phase forces would average out to zero.

    Short circuit forces - Direction?

I am trying to design a bus brace for a 3 phase busbar syatem. I was able to calculate the forces acting on the brace from the information I found on this forum. I am trying to apply this load on to the brace and do some analysis using pro/mechanica.I am having difficulty understanding the...
