    Rendering models

I am sure this topic has come up in the past but I did not find anything recent in the forum so I will ask for any help out there concerning how to render models in solidworks. Tutorials or help sites would work. I am using 06 solidworks. Thanks

    torque calculation on a conveyor

What type of rolls are you using? If they are heavy you may need to include the inertia torque to turn all the rolls. Looks like you have rolls about 98 inches long and 3.5 in Dia. If they are steel they will need to be considered. Also how are you driving the rolls. I am sure there are...

    online course FEA?

I took both asme FEA classes and thought they were good. Scott was my instructor and he was good. You could e-mail him about class work or any other FEA problem you are working on. I used ansys for the class. Piaengr is correct about working on your own. Not much direct instruction.

    spray systems

I am designing a reciprocating spray system and I was wondering if anybody knew of any material that advised the orientation of my spray guns or is this determined by prototyping and R&D specific to my application? I can post specifics if anybody would like me to such as linear speed, gun to...

    static crush seals

Hello, I have an application were I can use a static crush type seal or a static face seal and I was wondering if there was any thoughts of which type is better. I have been reading info on both and the only thought was that crush seals were intended for high pressure joints in hydraulics for...

    o-ring design

Hello, I would like to know if the design formulas for O-ring design parameters such as the glad dimensions, squeeze, extrusion gap, etc. vary greatly for pressure above 1500 psi. I have a joint that could see 3000psi. Also what are the benefits of a contoured backing ring verses a flat one...

    bearing housing freedom

Great stuff Guys thank you. One aspect I did not point out is both shafts are hollow allowing high pressure fluid to be pumped threw the center bore. This requires the joint to be sealed ruling out couplings.

    bearing housing freedom

I think byrdj ideas catch the jest of my limited defined problem statement ssnh. I have incorporated 3 radial springs to allow for the shaft misalignment. The true problem is that I have a shaft with two sections that will be joined with a treaded joint. Due to the type of configuration it...

    bearing housing freedom

Hello, I am looking for ideas on how to have a bearing housing held but be able to have orbital motion? Any ideas? Thanks

    Thread Strip out

Thanks For the input. We are using NPT threads on a current test model and the joint does not leak. The alignment is an issue I am addressing. The RPM value is very low. No exotic material needs to be used so I do not think brittleness will be a factor. I do like the Idea of a conical lead...

    Thread Strip out

Hello, I am working on a compression seal joint that consists of two hollow shafts threaded together. The shaft with the female inner threads will be turning which will transmit torque to the other shaft (which has the male threads). The way I see it is I need to size both shafts to handle the...

    Hydralic spool valves

Hello I am trying to learn more about hydraulic spool valve center conditions. I am trying to find out what is the intended purpose for using a float type center condition spool valve.
