CarlB, Thank you very much.
Yes I vaguely remember in a thread talking about 3" (or 5") maximum crushed stone diameter. So it is probably 3" is what I have seen.
Hi, Guys, Need help here.
I remember there was a thread before, which discusses about the crushed stone size for use as non-expansive frostfree fill. But I can not find this thread now. Can anybody direct me to that thread or tell me what is the max./min. crushed stone size for non-expansive...

I think a wind with 90mph last for several hours will cause much larger damage than a wind of 90mph just last for 3s. Are they still have the same rating?
I got a customer enquiring about a 90mph (or 100mph) gust definition. His question is how long this 90mph gust last will be defined as 90mph wind. 3s? or 5s?, can anybody help me to answer this question? Thanks
We usually reduce 10% negative moment in continuous W shape beam in our past design projects, which is allowed per LRFD Section A5.1. Now our company is going to change to use AISC 13th. I am not sure if it is still allowed to have this 10% reduction in negative moment. I can not find the same...
YS,
I have calculated the shear force for you based on 250mm center. My result is 57.1 kN at 250mm center. Please see attached pdf file see if there is any mistake.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=7f8a61de-b92e-4f24-91b7-62aa43d0f997&file=Steel-Plate-Under-Beam.pdf
I am reading PCI Design Handbook, Example 4.2.2.2, in the Table, there is a "Transfer Pt.at release P=Po". Is "Transfer Pt." means Transfer Point?. How to determine its location?
Thank you very much for your help.
Need help please, can anybody help me to find the basic wind speed in Lethbridge, Albert, Canada? I need work on a project over there. ASCE7-05 only gives US basic wind speed map.
Thank you very much.
My understanding is that in the real world, in one enclosed space, internal air pressure will either in outward pressure or in suction. No such thing as one wall outward, another wall suction, which is against natural law.
If there is two room, it is possible that one room in outward pressure...
Suppose this bearing length is very small, say only 0.5", and weld is only tw=5/8", weld leng is only 2 of 1/2" (just imagine an example), does it still reasonable to consider it as fixed boundary? or you have to prove your weld will not fail?
A 5" width, 1" thickness, 12" clear span plate, exerted a load P. I guess most people will consider case (a) as simply supported boundary condition, and case (b) as fixed boundary condition.
My question: is there any statement in any code which can justify above assumption?
Should there any...
Now I need to calculate the deflection of a building floor. The floor is a 9" thick slab, sitting on 20' spacing column in one direction and 22' spacing column in other direction, all column is 20" square. Total factored load are given as "w" (psf). My question is:
1. Should I Add column strip...
