    Thanks DD for the reply. The overlay is for structual reinforcement and is structural weld overlay. Should not be classified as corrosion resistant overlay, hardfacing overlay or cladding per Section Ix Qualification. Can we conclude that ASME IX does not cover this for WPQ?

    Metengr: The main point is the actual welding is not groove weld or fillet weld, it is overlay outside the surface of the pipe.
