    RF Interface to PLC

    Use a plc just for I/O. Put a timer in the logic that must be reset every second. If it times out the outputs are turned to fail safe state.

    Would this be a difficult PLC application?

    I would run the power of all your outputs thru a contactor. Hard wire an Estop to the coil of the contactor. Add a contact to the Estop and run that into the input of the plc to show status.
