NFPA 13 permits the installation of sidewall sprinkler in a vertical change in ceiling?
8.7.4.1.4.1 "Where soffits exceed more than 8 in in width or projection from the wall, pendent sprinklers shall be installed under the soffit"
can be interpreted as allowing this configuration if pendent...
What would be the choice criteria between the two temperature ratings that manufacturers have for ordinary temperature (135 or 155 ºF)?
Ambient temperatures are normal. Datasheet also specifies the same máximum ambient temperature for both (100ºF).
thanks
Dear sirs
Does anybody knows if table 8.6.5.1.2 from NFPA 13 Ed 2016 applies to in-rack sprinklers?
Ítem 8.13.5 Obstruction to in-rack discharge says: "In-rack sprinklers shall not be required to meet the obstruction criteria and clearance from storage requirements of Section 8.5".
No...
Based on what I read from the IBC and NFPA 101 is permitted to have only one exit if occupancy is below 50 people and the common path limits (75ft or 100 ft if sprinklered) are not exceded.
Dear Fórum:
Sprinkler with K5.6 are permitted for protecting storage if the criteria is density/área (OH-2 in my case), even thou they are not specifically listed for protecting storage.
I am correct?
thanks
We could not find any reference to grooved joints in piping in NFPA 14.
¿Are they allowed as a piping joining method in non sprinkler protected spaces?
Herr
What I mean is that if your latent load is higher than the usual you may not find an indoor unit that handles it. The VRV indoor units are more off the shelf than fancoils.
You can specify fancoil air flow, number of rows, etc, for some applications.
HerrKaLeun:
you are correct. I was making reference to some features that make these systems good in terms of efficiency (part load operation with variable flow for example).
Regarding humidity, you can not control how much latent or sensible load the system is going to handle, as you can do...
Low air flow rates of the indoor units, no possibility to control humidity, propietary systems, are the main limitations of these systems compared to chilled wáter.
Máximum size of indoor unit is in the 100.000 btu/hr aproximate.
They are a good choice thou, when you need to centralize many...
Timothi:
The variable that controls the two-way valve is room air temperature. Room thermostat then calls for open valve or close valve, to let water enter the coil.
You have to check what are the code requirements.
ASHRAE clearly states "Air changes per hour of outdoor air" which is different from "Air changes per hour supplied to room". The latter refers to air movement.
