Retaing wall with temporary concrete blocks

It has already been agreed that the taller portion of wall will be taken apart an re-built. My concern is the lower portions of the wall, 5ft+/- on top of the blocks where the segmental portion is in decent shape. There are no drawings for the original design, I doubt there is any connection...

Retaing wall with temporary concrete blocks

I have attached some pictures from our recent site walk. The wall is at a condo development.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=d6f2a260-9d2b-4965-b70e-2938b08b2bb6&file=Retain_Wall.pdf

Retaing wall with temporary concrete blocks

I have been asked to review a segmental block retaining wall that was constructed about 10 years ago. The problem is that the contractor used unreinforced concrete blocks 2'x3x'x4' as the first course for his wall. We have tested the blocks and the concrete quality varies substantially, and in...

    Walls on Trex Decking

In an exterior deck application can you run a load bearing wall on top of trex (or similar) decking? If not, any ideas on a clean detail? Please note framing has been designed to support load. Thanks

    Hip framing for barrel roof

My current design shows glulam hip roof trusses framing into a girder truss at 8ft o.c with 2x sub-purlins. However, since the hip is on a barrel, and the ridge is curving and sloping it will mean that each truss will be different. I know this works, but it is also going to be expensive. I...

    Hip framing for barrel roof

Yes, the framing is exposed from underneath. The bottom chord bracing will also be glulam and exposed.

    Hip framing for barrel roof

I am designing a timber frame structure with Glulam trusses (100ft span, 20ft o.c.), glulam purlins and 2x rafters. The architects have now added hips at each end of of the roof. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to frame the hips?
