Is the design table a one time use? If so then reverse the process:open a workbook where after filling in the variables, the workbook opens and creates the model (probably more work up front to get it to work though).
Where I work, we do not create a new standard, we add the new thread to the appropriate existing standard. We have been doing this for years without any negatives when going to the next version of SolidWorks.
Not selectable but returnable through API calls. However if you are going to do this then you can just get the filename through API calls and parse out what you want.

Unless I missed something, making the part virtual just makes the assembly file larger so I am not sure what you are gaining in disk space. Virtual parts also bring their own issues. Every time the assembly is open, SolidWorks must create a folder on your hard drive (VC~~), save the virtual...
So you have one part that is used in multiple assemblies (each assembly using a unique configuration of the part) and now you want to split the part into individual models, each used in it's own assembly as a virtual part? Are all the other parts in these assemblies virtual? I guess I am...
Since this is an old post, you may have already found your answer somewhere else, but in case you have not...
From your description of the problem it sounds like you are using SW2014 or earlier. However, since SW2015, the message does not just apply to this session, it applies in all new...
This looks like a fairly simple part; not a lot of proprietary info in it. I normally go back to the supplier for parts like this and ask if they can send me a model saved using all components. Otherwise if you know how to use the surfacing tools you may be able to reconstruct the parts. I...
