Ahhhhh. Got it. Thanks SS for the tiny little detail of removing the "code" tags. Not so obvious a step for a novice like me. I don't use GRIP files all that much but am beginning to see how useful they can be.
Thanks again to all.
JohnRBaker,
Could you share with the rest of us how you successfully compiled those scripts? I run the compilation command as part of the NX Open Grip software but it fails each time.
Please advise.

I need to create a NACA 0010 airfoil model in UG. I found a website that gives me the x and y coordinates for the cross-section but was wondering if there is a better way. I tried the method of creating a line using equations but UG seems to choke with anything greater than a power of 2 (my...
I have an old version of a GRIP program that generates the tooth form profile for several kinds of gears. However, I need to make solid models of the gears, not just the tooth form profile. Does anyone out there have an updated GRIP file that will do this?
Otherwise, how do I take surfaces...
Look at http://www.geotol.com/. You may have to teach yourself with the material that is available but it is better than nothing. I like this workbook the best.
There is also another company that made video tape training that we purchased for our company. The presentation is a little dry at...
I have a part which has a sloped feature created by sweeping a rectangle through a helix. What is the best way to represent this on the drawing? I was thinking of describing the helix (pitch, radius, etc.) within a note but wondered if there was a better way. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
I am considering taking a class from UG on Scenario for Motion since the tutorial is not doing it for me. I was wondering if anyone had experience taking the course and what they thought. Can it handle complex kinematic analysis? I'm looking to apply a force function at a certain point of a...
Troach,
I found the same dilemma! However, I am working with unparameterized features. In my case I was able to select all, use TRANSFORM-->SCALE and then scale it back the 25.4. Worked like a charm. Don't know what you would do for parametric features unless you wanted to go to...
Our parts and assemblies require in depth GD&T. Does anyone know if UG NX has the capability of building models with embedded tolerance information on each dimension? I know that I can see if there are interferences based on the nominal dimension but can I analyze what happens at maximum...
Yes, Machinery's Handbook has formulas for thread form. However, they simply repeat what is given in the standard, ASME B1.1.
What I will probably end up using is the basic diameter plus the major diameter tolerance for internal threads.
If anyone has a better idea, I am open to suggestions...
I made the mistake of swapping out parts incorrectly and it caused me half a day's worth of work!! I wanted to exchange a rev B component for a rev C component. Hopefully the following will save others from the same mistake.
1. Open the assembly file and go to modeling.
2. Open the assembly...
I have tried CAST (Computer-Aided Self Teach) which will give you very rudimentary exposure to the abilities of UG Motion. However, as cowski suggested, it will get you started.
Great idea Azrael! I ended up doing the following (for anyone interested)...
1. Export specific view as CGM. (This creates a view of lines, without associations to a model).
2. Import the CGM to a sheet in drafting.
3. Export that sheet as a part.
4. Import that part into any sheet I wish...
I am going from a revision B to a revision C. To write our engineering change notices we must include a snapshot of how the view WAS (rev. B) and also how it IS now (rev. C). I have exported the views I need as CGM and then import them back into the drawing. However, this puts the CGM on a...
I am working in Drafting and would like to copy lines from one sheet to another. The lines are not in a view so I can't use the copy view feature. Transform doesn't seem to work either. Copy and paste only seem to work for text. Any suggestions?
