Hi prc, thanks. We just received copies of IS code. So can you give me which IS code number in particular???
Edison, thanks. But in the handbook of hydroelectric engineering, they have given control bay and service/ erection bay seperately in the calculation. I assumed that by control bay they...
Bill, Muthu & Keith, Thanks a heaps!
What about my second part of question? Someone can throw some light on it. :)

Hi all, there is always seperate cavern for Transformer and machine (generator) in under-ground Power House. Why? The reason I could think of:
i. It is typical in Power plant with bigger machine and more no. of units.
ii. Safety. ( I read in here somewhere that in-case of flooding etc...
fattdad, thanks! A star for you. :) Since I am an electrical engineer, I have not much clue about geo-technical studies. I am just trying to understand it broadly.I will go through your thesis, thanks for it!
CVG, indeed we are hiring geological expert for the studies. And we have civil...
Bill, Scotty & mns15451, thank you so much! I appreciate your help.
Good day Sir(s)!

Yeah, we are doing geo-tech survey in Dam, Pressure shaft and Power House area. The total capacity of plant is 210 MW and Dam will be concrete gravity dam.
Thanks guys for the insight. Further help is most welcome. :)

Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me how to roughly approximate the weight and dimension of single phase ,40 MVA , 11 (or) 13. 8 kV/ 220 kV Generator transformer without going into nitty gritty calculations?I want the information to check the feasibility of transportation by road. Maybe if you all do...
Hi everyone,I would appreciate if any one of you could give me some insight into it:
1. What should be the depth of bore-hole for drilling for geo-technical study of hydro-power plant??
2. What are the type of lab and in-situ test required to be conducted as a part of geo-technical study??
3...
Hi everyone, me and my friends had conflicting defination about the "rated discharge" and "design discharge" of hydropower plant.
Can anyone of you give me clear-cut answer on it??

Hi 21121956, thank you so much. I do have general efficiency curve as you have provided. I wanted to see the curve for my Pelton turbine. I guess it will be more or less same?? I also wanted to know as how to make the curve. Since the method I tried don't seem to work.Maybe I will try rummaging...
I tried the above. It don't seem to work. The turbine efficiency decreases with increased % of discharge. Where am i going wrong?

Hi again, I have a Question.
I want to plot an efficiency curve of Pelton turbine against percentage of design discharge. Basically I want to obtain an efficiency curve for the turbine. So is it OK for me to go this way:
I will caluclate the efficiency against say 5%, 10%, 15%.20%....100% of...
Hi 21121956, now that was really informative! Thanks for clearing the doubt. A star for your answer from me. :)
Thank you Rakoo and Mike for the insights too. I really appreciate it.
