Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know if its possible to export the XYZ coord data of an entire model to an ASCII file direct from UG? e.g. create a point cloud file.
We have to need to generate a text file that we can archive that defines the part in terms of XYZ cordinates.

Simon
Grant,
I asked GTAC the same question and got this reply:
The release notes are wrong this functionality is not due until version 3.0.1 or possibly 2.0.5.2 if they get it ready in time!

In the ug_metric.def (or ug_english.def) enviroment file search for the spaceball sensitivity:
UG_3DInputSensitivity:
If you increase this value it should increase the default sensitivity. We run on 6 as default on our 3000/4000/5000's on NX2.
The new USB spaceballs seem to be much more...
Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to disable the dynamic input boxes in sketcher on NX2?
When you draw a sketch line the dynamic box appears next to the cursor. Some of our users would like to disable this box as it serves no useful purpose for the parts they are designing.
Thanks

Hi,
Does anyone have a grip/open API written for plotting assemblies?
I am after the basics of something quick & cheerful to plot the first sheet of all the drawings in a loaded assembly.
Thanks

Hi,
Does anyone have any examples of calling external programs from the .men actions?
My specific requirement is to open a URL and pass it username:password direct from within a UG toolbar.
At present we are on V18, but going to NX2 in about 6 weeks, does NX2 have a better way of linking into...
Gary,
I've not found a good way of doing this from native UG thats reliable.
I use a 3rd party add-on called BCT Raster for doing tif exports. It outputs a 300dpi tif of drafting sheet.
It also allows us to import tifs into the model/drafting as well.
Check out the info on www.bct-portal.com...
There's also a CADPo Tech Tip on law curves that shows something similar to the phone cord as well.
Go to www.cadpo.com news>tech tips and look down at the bottom of the UG section for 'fun with law curves'
Hope this is some use...

Tim,
It plots whatever's shown in drafting, (and picks up on line weight by colour). It also can produce a good quality (300dpi) tiff straight to disk of an entire drawing.
The only drawback is that you need a plug-in viewer installed to be able to view/plot a file containing a raster image...
We use a 3rd party add-on to our V18 called BCT Raster that does just this.
You can put the tiff in the model and pull it through into drafting, or directly in drafting. It also has some basic editing features to scale and crop the image once its in.

That method only allows seems to allow horizontal or vertical repositioning. Which ever option I choose it resets the other to zero offset when its applied.
I am trying to move the point both horizontally and vertically at the same time.
(Its a large blend rad that is way off the edge of the...
Does anyone know of a way of editing offset centerpoints in both X and Y on V18?
At present I'm having to create a second (identical) view of the part, put the offset center on that view, edit the view boundary manually to show just the offset center and then move this view to the position that...
