thanks guys for the quick response. mc5w, the turbine governor that we employee is the HPC 640 GUIDE VANE CONTROLLER. It is digital and is implemented in an ABB Advant Controller 110 (AC110).
Mike, you guessed right the guide vane position is read by a mechanical link connected to one of the...

we're a hydro-power plant with a rated output of 750Mw. one of our turbo-alternator's (Francis turbine)guide vanes (GV) have been oscillating arbitrarilly. initially we thought that this was due to the governor actuator loop and we suspected the main servo valve's position transducer and the...

I'm a new and young mechanichal engineer working for a power generation company:thermal and hydro. At present i'm going through a 2 year graduate learnership programme. What I would like is some direction in terms of good books or other forms of proven documentation where I can find a few...

Hi!
i have designed a tank basing my analysis on the flexural/bending theory of plates (i.e. westergaard approximate solution for rectangular plates. is this adequate or do i need to consider shearing? the tank has a capacity of 100 gallons.
i have read about oil absorbent materials, how can these be used to handle oil leakes in a factory, operating a couple of blow and injection molding machines.our problem is we are using detergents that are creating oil emulsions in excess of the local discharge limits.
i have just designed a tank to be used as the separator chamber of a OWS.The material i have used is mild carbon steel.what kind of treatment do i have to apply to this tank to protect it from corrosion.
