Hello,
I meshed a plate of glass with shells. Ansys gives me a picture of results (principal stress), with positive and negative values. Stupid question : positive is tension or compression ?
Thanks a lot
Sev
Thanks a lot Greg for your answer.
I wanted to give you a star, but the link doesn't work. :-(
I will try to run my simulation now with those information.
Thanks a lot for your quick answer.
I indeed thought about contact to solve this problem and used the contact wizard. But this process is quite complex and doesn't give me good results.
Can you tell me what elements I could use as gap elements in ANSYS ? Is there a specific chapter in the...
Hello everybody,
I am achieving a static mechanical analysis and would like to apply as boundary condition a maximum displacement in Z for some nodes. In Ansys, I find only the way to put a fixed displacement, and not a range (from 0 to 3 mm by instance).
Can someone help me ?
Thanks a lot,
Sev
Hello !
I am working on ANSYS, but my boss asked me to know a little bit more about SYSTUS.
Can anybody tell me about this software ? Is it the same philosophy as ANSYS ? What are limitations ? Will I be able to make a electrical-thermal model ? Where can I find informations about it ? Is it...
Hello everybody,
I would like to use the PLNSOL command only a portion of my model. Which commands should I use ?
I saw in the ANSYS users manual I can use the SUBSET command, but don't understand very well HOW to use it (arguments, other associated commands, ...).
Can someone help me ...
First of all, sorry for this bad translation. Indeed, I meant "stress" and not "constraint". Nazariosr, you were right by assuming it.
I agree with both laws "stress = E * strain" and "stress = force/area". BUT, when I look to this very simple equation, I only see that
1° Strain varies with E...
Hello,
I work on an finite elements model, with small and rigid bodies (no big deformation, ni striction, ni viscoplasticity, ...). It is a very simple structural static analysis.
I wonder why, in my model, constraints vary with E, as the equation for constraint is normally "constraint =...
Thanks Drej for your answer. I tried the CEINTF command, but it didn't work, I don't know why (even if nodes were on elements, it said "node doesn't lie on the element").
Because I need rotation DOFs, I changed my element types, removing shells and replacing solid45 elements by solid73, which...
Hello,
I try to make an analysis on a small flat thing (extremely rigid compared to the glue) glued on a glass, which is represented as follows.
I apply a force F at a node N, which is connected (by BEAM4 elements) to each node of one surface of the glue. This surface is represented by...
