Since this is a forcemain sewer line isn't it likely that sewer gas is being generated by the effluent
as it rots? I know the pH changes substantially from the pumping station to the point of discharge...the constiuents
of the effluent would certainly harbor some biological growth.

I have a problem I hope you can help me with...a forcemain sewer pipe that pumps effluent through a 25.4" ID pipe at 1,000 to 2,000 gpm, 30,000 ft away, elevation change from the pumping station to the open tank discharge point of +240 ft. There are a dozen air relief/vacuum breakers...

Velocity in the line doesn't exceed 3 fps.
My rule of thumb is that the velocity required to lift an object in a situation like this must be greater than the free fall velocity it would experience in a stagnant line.
Had a bit of an oops moment earlier when contractor were performing a hot tap on a glycol line in that the pilot bit broke

Its the US...the relief valves themselves are configured in a dual arrangement with a selector valve. They share a common discharge pipe and that is the issue. The reliefs are recertified every 5 years.
