Can't scroll to bottom features on my assy's feature tree

It's some compatibility problem between SW2011 and Windows - when your feature tree grows longer than your display area the scroll function isn't kicking in like it should. Just click the minimize button in the top right corner of the SW window then click it again to maximize the SW window - you...

    3D printing

I've had several things printed by Objet printers in Nylon (called White, Strong & Flexible by Shapeways) from STLs made from SW parts by Shapeways: http://www.shapeways.com/ http://www.shapeways.com/materials/ Their price cannot be beat but you can't specify print orientation yet. I had one...

    3D printers

Take a look at using someone like Shapeways to print your parts: http://www.shapeways.com/materials/ They're located in the Netherlands but I've had parts in White, Strong & Flexible material arrive in seven days after ordering them. Shapeways is currently opening an office in New York city...

Parts getting suppressed ALL config AND all models

Try turning off Large Assembly Mode under system options. I was having a problem with suppressed parts appearing in an assembly despite being listed as suppressed in the design table - doing this solved the problem.

    Sub-assemblies unsuppressing themselves

Try disabling Large Assembly Mode under Tools-Options-System Options-Assembly. I had one assembly go haywire in SW2011 - if I inserted it in a drawing suppressed parts and sub-assemblies became unsuppressed, parts and sub-assemblies flew off into space ignoring their mates and others vanished...

    Problems with Non-Certified Graphic Card

Your problem was caused by Large Assembly Mode (lightweight). Turn it off under Tools-Options-System Options-Assembly so parts will always be fully resolved rather than opening in Lightweight Mode and your problems are gone - my assembly works perfectly now. Solidworks has assigned an SPR to...

    Problems with Non-Certified Graphic Card

It's not the graphics card - I have the same problem with one of my assemblies whenever I insert it in a drawing. The assembly was useable for about a month in SW2011 (original assembly was built in SW2009) but suddenly began to act weird like your assembly. It works fine when you just open the...

Instances to Skip (Help system RANT)

Mike: Don't expect Solidworks Help to fully explain how a lot of things work; important steps are omitted in the step-by-step instructions for several commands and other instructions are ambiguous in meaning. This problem's existed for a long time. The best thing to do is use your reseller's...

    SW2008v4 bug: can't mirror chamfers?

CBL said: "Have you tried performing several mirror functions ... one for each feature (or at least for the chamfer)?" I just tried mirroing the web and rib alone (that worked OK) then mirroring the chamfer all by itself - I got the 'Rebuild Errors' message with the chamfer.

    SW2008v4 bug: can't mirror chamfers?

CBL said: "Select the Geometry pattern option when mirroring." Thanks - I tried it and it worked for the simple example I posted earlier. I tried it on my actual part and got a 'Rebuild Errors' message (see attached screen...

    SW2008v4 bug: can't mirror chamfers?

ctopher said: "Have tried deleting the right rib then mirroring the left one including the chamfer's?" That's exactly what I did. The only chamfer I applied was to the bottom edge of the left rib; the mirrored rib on the right has a chamfer 10mm deep and 5mm high on the bottom edge rather than...

    SW2008v4 bug: can't mirror chamfers?

Here's an example of my problem. The 'distance-distance' option for the chamfer is where the bug lies. I input 5mm for d1 and 10 mm for d2 on the left rib. Next I mirrored the rib and the chamfer thru the right plane. See where the 5mm and 10mm values were switched? This is NOTHING compared to...

    SW2008v4 bug: can't mirror chamfers?

Thanks for trying that, ctopher. Are the values for d1 and d2 of the chamfer equal in your example? I was using different values for each (this is where the problem arose) and chamfered the bottom edge of the rib.

    SW2008v4 bug: can't mirror chamfers?

ctopher: I can't attach the file, but it's nothing complicated. extrude a flat plate on the front plane; extrude a rectangular rib from that plate to the left of the right plane; chamfer one end of the rib; try to mirror the rib and chamfer thru the right plane. gwubs: What you suggested is...

    SW2008v4 bug: can't mirror chamfers?

Yes. I get an error message: "Some chamfered items are no longer in the model. Edit the feature to reselect the items." and the mirror will not let itself be saved.
