I'm trying to make up what I know as a barrel cam. This is a cylinder with a groove around it, but the groove moves longitudinally as it goes around. You can see what I've got so far at http://home.surewest.net/mathias/posts/panel_cam_2.jpg
I've circled, in a very rough way, those two areas...
We occasionally run into a problem with how SW puts fractional dimensions on a print. If the dimension is one inch plus 1/16", it comes out on the print as 1 1/16". It is pretty easy for the shop folks to read this as 11/16". I'd much prefer that it show on the print as 1-1/16", which is...
If I have a model which has a curve tangent to a flat surface, such as you'd get if you put a fillet on an edge, all views (except wireframe and shaded with no edges) show a line along the interface between the flat surface and the fillet.
This does help one visualize where the different...
I'd like to be able to execute a command that gets a list of the components of an assembly, then gets the drawings of each component, and then prints those drawings. Seems like this should be part of the basic system, but doesn't appear to be. I've asked around about this, but have always been...
Is there a way to assign some flexibility to a part? By this, I mean the springiness that a spring or o-ring has. I'd like to simulate (with Physical Dynamics) the installation of a snap ring using a tapered tool.
Yes, it probably does, although I haven't tried it. The problem is that I have a lot of old Word docs that have AutoCAD objects inserted into them, and I can't seem to find a way to be able to edit them with my replacement program.
I don't think this is the problem. If I view a .dwg file in the Windows Explorer, it shows up as a DWGeditor file. So, Windows knows how to open them. The problem seems to be with Word. How can I tell Word to open the .dwg image with this replacement program?
CBL:
Not sure I understand the details. I can't do this in Word; that gives me a Word popup menu that includes things like "unknown object..." and "show picture toolbar", but no way to change the application.
If I RMB on a file in Windows Explorer, and choose "Open With...", it already says...
This only peripherally pertains to this forum, but I thought someone here might have run into this.
Have many Word docs with embedded AutoCAD drawings in them. If we need to edit, we can double-click the drawing and AutoCAD will open. We can edit, save, and all is good.
I have a new machine...

That doesn't help if Windows (somehow) doesn't know how to create a thumbnail. It does display thumbnails for all the files it knows how to. For example, it won't display the thumbnail for a Word doc. Along that line, it seems like some people might want to be able to preview Word docs!
CBL:
Yes, we've tried eDrawings, but find little to recommend it over the admittedly lame Viewer. It seems like both of these are pretty limited unless the full version of SW is also installed.

We could export them as a variety of image file types, but it seems like we shouldn't have...
