    Heat resistant material

arunmrao, yes, we do find large bulk of carbon deposition at the nozzle surrounding. We've tried to install filters for the diesel, but yet to see any improvements. Proprietary alloy..such as 310L?

    Heat resistant material

it's from batch annealing furnace's heating hood burners. All of the burners are affected. It's been in service for about more than a year. I'll try to find out the type of diesel. The burner tube basically directs the fire inwards. I'm not sure the exact temperature at the burner itself, but...

    Heat resistant material

Hi, currently the diesel fired burner tubes inside our furnace seem to have deformed, and looked as if it has degraded away. The tube end looks like a flower, with its edge sharpened. The material is stainless steel 310, as provided by the supplier. Is 310ss a suitable material? Could the...

Coil Break Defect in Cold-Rolled Steel

Dear all, Recently we are facing several coil-break defects in our Skin Pass Mill. We were told that the discharge temperature from our Batch Anneallers is too high. However, it was maintained within below 40degC, yet we still found coil break at random coils. Uncoiling speed at SPM is already...

    Recrystallization temperature for annealing

yeah...some of our consultant also say it was too clean, as we have a cleaning line before the annealing line. but to what extend of "cleanliness"...we're still trying to figure out. So, now we're trying to use lower temperature. but as far as a i know, some steel mills use the same temperature...

    Recrystallization temperature for annealing

there another thing that's been bothering me about the temperature. with strip thickness less than 0.6mm (spcc-1c), after our normal heat treatment cycle, several cases of strip layers sticking together were reported. I've seen cases like this before, but is there any better remedy for this?

    Recrystallization temperature for annealing

dear all, the process is a batch annealing of coils. currently we have SPCC-1C coils to heat-treat. it was found that the quality was too good after annealing; required was CQ, but we've achieved DDQ. Ofcourse, we did this is a relatively high temperature, slow heating, and long cooling hours...

    Recrystallization temperature for annealing

Matlsguy: The material,4ft wide x 20mt flat product coil, is going through recrystallization annealing. The importance of annealing time is because it will greatly affect our production output, approximately 100mt/hr.

    Recrystallization temperature for annealing

Dear all, Is the a possible method to calculate the "ideal" recrystallization temperature for any steel grade? I read through some articles..a 10degC difference could bring the annealling time additional 1 hour. Recently the Product Developement team brought us some new steel grade for testing...

    Help on microstructure identification

well..basically i've done some mechanical testing, which also includes hardness. the HRB value is about 104. Why i need to identify is that, due to some reason, i may need to change another supplier. However, the new supplier's material is made from cold-rolling steel, which may give a similar...

    Help on microstructure identification

the etchant used was 2% nital. basically the specs given are only the mechanical properties, nothing more. however, about the etchant, I dont really know if it's the suitable one, because the longer i etch it, the precipitate like particles will only grow darker, without any significant signs of...

    Help on microstructure identification

Dear all, I have 3 different steel samples in which I have taken a microstructure photo of them as the link below. I was only given the specifications of the steels, but not the chemical composition. My questions is, are these steel martensitic steel (tempered), with precipitations? The...

    bottleneck - different line capacity

Dear all, I'm having some troubles, hope you guys could help me here. For current plant situation, each line has different capacity, with a ratio as below: line 1 - 7 line 2 - 8 line 3 - 4 line 4 - 4.4 line 5 - 6 line 6 - 4 The process is from line 1 - line 2 - line 3 - etc. However, line 2...

Welding spark sticks on Cu conducting clamp

Our Pickling line uses flash butt welding machine for joining steel sheets. During welding of the steel sheets, sparks tends to stick on the clamp, which is a Cu based material, adjacent to the weld area, as this Cu clamp is to conduct electricity for welding process. Does applying some ceramic...
