Need to purge discharge hydrogen relief valve to prevent detonation?

yes, releassing hydrogen to the atmosphere. My concern is whether a detonation is possible when the discharge line are not sweeped with an inert

Need to purge discharge hydrogen relief valve to prevent detonation?

I am a bit puzzled. Someone told me that a discharge pipe of relief valve for pure hydrogen should be continiously purged with an inert in order to prevent a flammable mixture during venting. Without sufficient purging, air will be present in the discharge pipe. A flammable mixture could then be...

Why is pressure drop tailpipe important

someone told me it was related to garantee capacity. is that true? why is chattering prevention important? IF the valve fails, wouldn't it fail open? At least the pressure is released; so overpressure is not possible.

Why is pressure drop tailpipe important

The API code states that the pressure drop of the tailpipe should not exceed 10% of the set pressure. Why is this? I want to understand what happens when the 10% is exceeded. Is there a file of website where relieve valve are described how they work and why pressure drop is important?

Relief line design / vapor condensation or freezing during relieve?

I am looking at a project to relocate the relief of a destillation column to safe location. Set pressure of RD = 0.5 bar. To reach safe location significant length of piping is required; about 60m (200 ft) of which 20m to go to higher altitude. the vapor relief is at boiling point (about 200...
