I'm looking for ways to determine the source of cobalt in BWR without replacing all the stellite. It seems the plants in the US have a wide range of cobalt values with big differences in personnel exposure as indicated by BRAC.
Does anyone know which LWR's have tracked down cobalt sources...
Thanks
I'm trying to track down the source of elemental cobalt in power plant feedwater. The water is super clean (0.2 usiemens), low O2, 250-350F,and sub ppm So4, Cl, Cu and Na ~ 1 ppm Fe. Water is sent to a nuclear reactor where the Co containing sludge is activated by neutrons causing...
Thanks in advance
I'm lookiing for a method of removing accumulated scale and sludge form pipe walls/branches in a nuclear plant where removal from service is impossible (one outage/2 years), chemicals canot be used (conductivity is 0.2 microsiemens) and access to the internals to hydrolaze or...

THanks. I'll review that SAE paper. I guess I don't understand. When the gas flow is decelerated during the exhaust cycle, it has to be re accelerated again..in addition, the cross section of the intake runner is too big at low flow (resulting in low velocity) or too small at high...

I've done a bit of work with GC long ago but the d=info is still current (I think). The type of column you use depends on what else is in the sample soup. Temperature and sample through put as well as turndown among samples will also be factors. FOr low concentrations...

Is any work being done on technology to maintain a constant velocity of charge as air/fuel pases valves on an intake charge. The advantages on combustion chamber design are well known, and attempts to minimize the turndown ratio along the whole rpm range have been feeble...

I'm looking for any information re: removal of silica (as SIO2) reactive or non reactive in the presence of boron leached from boraflex materials in fuel pools. Have heard that some mining companies have had sucess using specialized adsorbants.
Any help
Thanks all,
I've heard rumors from time to time, of success removing silica in the range of 5ppb to 50 ppm in the presence of boron, which is usually leached from boroflex.structural components.
Any experience, citations?
Thanks
