550V AC Motor protection
In your case Earth fault relay operates only when the insulation of motor is broke down. It is adviceable to use IP rated motors for operating in wet environments. Earth fault protection is not going to help you.- robert122

in DC machines, how do commutators convert induced AC voltage into DC ?
To understand this you have to know the working of DC machines. Actually the generated voltage is always AC. In simple the commutators just conduct in only one way making the current output is always one way.- robert122

HOW TO DO 350KW GENERATOR MEGGER TEST??
As far as i my knowledge, megger is used to measure insulation resistance not winding resistance. Megger is used to measusure insulation resistance of generator. Connect one point to generator output terminal and other to external metal part of generator and then start megger.- robert122

Motor overload setting
Primary issue is that whether it is adviceable to use three phase motor starter to single phase motor. I dont think it is right. You should not use 3 phase motor starter to single phase motor. Now coming to rating setting, if the setting is less than 125% no damage will be done to motor but it...- robert122

Generator fault
In large generators, to protect these types of faults differential protection is used. This differential relay when there is fault in between the intended points, will sense and switches off the generator. This is very common type of protection in generators.- robert122

The type of starter for a motor depends on the starting current of the motor. for small motors, DOL starter is sufficient as the starting current is not very high. but when rating increases, starting current increases and hence has to use different type starters like star-delta starters...- robert122
