Thanks Dik! I want to allow the fabricator to use wire-feed also, so I didn't want to specify "E7018" as this is a stick electrode. I'm looking for the spec that allows stick or wire-feed.- RMcCAN

E70XX electrodes
I would like to specify the most generic electrode for a particular tensile strength requirement. I thought that "E70XX" was the way to do that and would allow freedom for the fabricator to use whatever welding process was suitable while still getting 70 ksi electrode ultimate strength.
