    LARGE Bill of Material

A shot in the dark, but when you go to Analyze>BOM>Listing Report Tab>Displayed Properties Window, do you have a lot of properties assigned to display in the BoM? Maybe that would slow it down with such a large assembly?

    Transfer Catia Files via FTP

Just remember that you need to make sure all the Part files associated to your Product are sent as well. Your customer may also have to reconnect the Product Links in Desk once he receives the data and stores it where he wants it.

    Trace Path of a Point

Thanks for the tip Eric. I found the help doc, but for the life of me can't find the DMU Generic Animations Toolbar. I have DMU Check, Rendering, and Viewing toolbars available. It seems as though my licensing should not be a problem with both Part Design and GSD. I am running R16, but the...

    Trace Path of a Point

Hey guys. Is there a way for me to trace the path of a point as it would move in a product with constraints applied, so that the trace line is created in a geometrical set? Much thanks for any suggestions.

    Need help with Sketch-tool bar

Make sure you are in Part Design. Then go to View > Toolbars and check on Sketch-Based Features. This should get you the Pad, Pocket, etc. command icons. You can also use these commands from the Insert menu... Insert > Sketch-Based Features.

    Mirror Surface Data

Also, the Symmetry icon should be located in your Operations toolbar, under Translate.

    Hybrid Design: Good or Bad

Well...as always, if I had done a search before posting I would have found this thread: http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=160663 and gotten some info there. If anyone has any further input or found anything new to share..please, feel free. Sorry for the redundant thread.

    Hybrid Design: Good or Bad

I have not used Hybrid Design and am just curious about what you guys think of the advantages/disadvantages in using it. Thanks, rg

    Surface split

What happens when you Extrude your wire into a surface and try the Split (making sure the new surface boundaries are all clear of the tube...might require an Extrapolate or two)? I also get that error usually when I need to extend my surface edges beyond the body I am splitting...like Jay said.

Deleting Faces of a Solid Model

The red lines indicate 90 degree lines. The yellow is where the material flow transitions between each 90 degree. This yellow region is where you get knife edges using the Shell funcion. And to post a picture, you can use http://www.imageshack.us/ to host it and link it as specified in the...

Deleting Faces of a Solid Model

Much thanks to everyone for their input. I guess if the customer wants accurate Catia models, they have to settle for surface-based modeling. It's a shame though, feature bodies (like Az said) make updating so easy. And yes Az, the edge pointing inward is the whole cause of this issue, but...

    Measure Inertia

You're welcome eliou :) This one I have to just assume is gravity...I don't know what else it would be.

    Measure Inertia

That's right. The plane is defined because mass moment of inertia is rotational.

Deleting Faces of a Solid Model

Here is an example of what I'm trying to explain. It's a decently simple u-channel bracket, but the changes in angle of the surface are what caused the problems with the shell in the filleted regions of the edge. The picture shown is modeled in GSD and Thickened. You can see the front trim...

    Measure Inertia

I believe the Io(x,y,z) is the Area Moment of Inertia (used in bending calculations), while the I(xy,xz,yz) is the Mass Moment of Inertia.
