I like to think of credit cards as a tool.
They can:
- prove your responsibility to lenders (Credit Score)
- help you get over financial humps (college student living paycheck to paycheck)
- allow you to rent a car, hotel room...
- be set up for auto bill-pay
- offer you rewards
