    Hold down the ctrl and middle mouse button to pan. Sounds like you are not editing the sketch, if the sketch tools are greyed out.

    Also, print to pdf works a lot better than export to pdf as far as a good quality pdf, then you can use your print settings to get a good black and white pdf.

    I actually move my geometry in draftsight to 0,0,0 by selecting the geo, and move from selection point to 0,0,0 before writing out my dxf file for cam system. Not sure if this will work for your use, but its the way I do it..
