I am researching on what users feel about the potential for Cloud Computing for FEA and CFD applications.
Here is a poll, I have created:

Really appreciate if you take a minute to do this.
It is a simple 1-click poll. Only 1 question and 3 options to choose from. That...

Trainguy,
So, did you go ahead and invest in FEA side of your business?
I have read all replies here.. and was curious as to what is your business status in regards to FEA?
Thanks.
Rob.
My Suggestions:
Vibration: ANSYS/Nastran
Acoustics: LMS Sysnoise (This has been proven and tested for several years and is the most widely used acoustic software in the world).
Expensive: Yes!
But my philosophy is you get what you pay for!
This question is like asking what is the best car out there? There are soo many variables such as cost to power ratio, overall technical support and on and on and on...
All these softwares have their own advantages and disadvantages...
And further more I do not think we can define a "typical...
As an additional comment to LTR, I am not sure if you are aware of DesignSpace from ANSYS. It is a very userfriendly package and it has complete bi-directional associativity with Pro/E and again is only meant to be a designer-analysis package as opposed to complete analysis package. I have been...
For your needs, you could still use the beginner's package from ANSYS called DesignSpace I believe. It is excellent when it comes to major CAD associativity and also pretty easy to use. The only major drawback might be that it can't handle any Material non-linearities. Just the geometric...
I am unsure of the capabilities of ANSYS/Professional. Can it do forced harmonics?
I looked at the datasheet at ansys website.. but wasn't sure. Can anybody tell me for sure?
Thanks a zillion.

Hi Dollar...
I am surprised you found Bathe more a application oriented. I find it pretty theoritical. Well I guess that me.. and my limited knowledge. Anyway.. I also like it. I also have atleast half a dozen that I keep with me of various thicknesses and intensity.
But as I said, my...
I agree with bradh. Its better to outsource on occasions where you think it might need an expert opinion. By the way.. it has been a while. Did you actually buy Design Space or did you out source? Just curious. :-)
Rob.
When you mention that you dont have any experience with FEA, I assume that you have never used any FEA softwares before as well. Considering you are a beginner, I think you will most benifit from using a software that is simple, easy to use and is more likely meant for "design...
From my personal experience, (I might be wrong), I have found Design Space to be a much easy to use and accurate for my needs. And since you are mentioning "Simple" which I assume you meant "linear", then I would definitely try Design Space.
Sorry, I did not mean difference between NDT and Eddy current. I meant difference between RI (Resonant Inspection) and eddy current. Sorry for that and I did not know how to edit it once I posted :)
Thanks again.
