The simplest compression is RLL Run Length encoding. If your sampling frequency is much faster than the data you are sending then you should be able to apply RLL and at least get a 2:1 or 3:1 data reduction.

Try something called FMA direct co-pilot which is basically an earth infrared sensor which can detect the level horizon as earth is always warmer.
model aviation may 2002 pg 78 had a writeup on and they were very enthusiastic about it.

hi haitham
you don't need to build a DSP board you need a higher power I/O board.
This board should plug in to your expansion connectors and should contain your higher current devices.
In this way you are not reinventing the wheel you are simply adding on to an existing proven design. This is...
Actually you want 2 emitters and one detector on your moving target.
IF they are transmitting the same signal you may be able to compute the phase + clock differneces and have fairly good accuracy
If you use a pulsed rf device and put a triangular reflector on your target you have several ways to compute the distance.
1. Send a modulated ping
2. look for an echo
3. time gate the echo
ergo at the end you have a primitive radar.
There is a matlab/simulink model of this at...
