Can balloons be attached to BOM items or empty models

PD, I tried to video capture this morning but the feature manager tree did not show up, only the graphics area. I don't have any other video capture ability and it would take an act of congress to get it thouigh our IT department. So I have attached a WORD document with some screen captures in...

Can balloons be attached to BOM items or empty models

We just switched to SW14 in August and was previously running SW11, and I was able to do the same in SW11 racingd98

Can balloons be attached to BOM items or empty models

Sorry, I'm not sure what's going on. I do it all the time with things like tie wraps, Loctite, etc. in which I have created a blank dummy file that only has properties in for BOM info. In fact I just did not more than 30 minutes ago. Wish I could help more, maybe someone else can chime in...

Can balloons be attached to BOM items or empty models

That's correct, drill down to part from the drawing tree. I've done it both by showing the origins and by the drill down method, but the showing origins can get messy. racingd98

Can balloons be attached to BOM items or empty models

I'm pretty sure if you drill down into the tree for the part and click on the origin it will add the balloon to the stack. racingd98

    Excel to SW General Table

kchunk, Thanks for the code. I will certainly give this a try when I return to work. I have a lot of vacation/holiday time built up so I won’t return to work till January 5th. RacingD

    Excel to SW General Table

CBL, I performed the Design Table test this morning and had the same problems. Basically, if we want to edit an Excel table which has been inserted into a Solidworks drawing we have to go to ADD-IN and turn off SmarTeam, then everything functions as you would expect. While this is a work...

    Excel to SW General Table

"Does an inserted DT play nice with SmartTeam?" I have used DT's many times, but I don't recall ever putting the DT on a drawing format. I can give it a try tomorrow at work, but my gut feeling is if it is embedded, Smarteam won't like it. RacingD

    Excel to SW General Table

Is there a way to copy and paste an Excel spreadsheet to a Solidworks general table without having to copy and paste cell to cell? I know I can paste the spreadsheet onto a drawing but we use Smarteam and have found Smarteam and embedded spreadsheets don't play well with each other. We currently...

    Additional text added to BOM

Is there a way to add additional text to a SW BOM cell and keep it smart, similar to adding additional text to a dimension (ex. <DIM> SEE NOTE 3 )? I know I can override the value but it loses its "smarts". I would like for my QTY column in my BOM to read the true quantity but appear as “10...

    changing center marks

I have a "D" shaped plate with a center mark locating the center. Due to room limitations remaining on the drawing, one of extension lines of the center mark runs off the edge of the drawing and is really of no use for dimensioning or anything else. Is there a way to hide one extension line of a...

    Plane/Origin Selection Macro

handleman, Your new version is even better than the first, thanks again. I too would be interested in the macros, anything to do my job faster. RacingD98

    Plane/Origin Selection Macro

handleman, This is a great time saving macro, I know I'll use it a lot - THANKS. My only question is can it be used to cycle through any other planes that are created and appear later in the feature manager tree. An example would be, often on a pipe fitting I'll add an "Installation Plane" at...
