    Maximum allowable weld weave

    I am wondering if anyone knows what the maximum weave is for SMAW (specifically ASME Section VIII Div 1). For some reason 3x is sticking in my brain, but I would like to know where to find it in the ASME Codes.

    Type 1 joints - ASME VIII Div. 1

    Can a single sided, V-groove butt joint without backing be considered a type 1 weld as per ASME VIII Div. 1 UW-12? This weld would have a GMAW root and SAW fill and cap.

    Good day, My company is manufacturing 28' OD X 121' T/T vessels (1 5/8" thk). The code that we are building to is ASME Sect. VIII Div 1.
