    LInks to past threads.

thread158-443901 ... and then there are other threads with a different aspect to the same problem. This one has to do with erosion.

    LInks to past threads.

thread162-378714 Periodically I like to revisit a thread that was useful in resolving a problem. How do these links work?

    Modular Geocellular Drainage Tanks

I think you would be better off using HDPE Pipe instead. It may be a little more expensive than these modular units, but they would last longer.

    In-Channel Concrete Sediment Trap

Rock check dams would slow down the flow but would not trap fine sediment. It takes days (not minutes) to get sediment to significantly be reduced. I have used 72 hours in the past but this does little towards a 48 hour drain time requirement. Storm water, I have been told, should not be...

    Street Flow

The trouble I run into is providing a guarantee that a residence will not get flooded if built to a certain elevation. In this community, the 100 year event is theoretically limited to a foot and a half above the curb. I know this is not an exact science but I would like to be somewhat...

    TR-20/WinTR-20 Reservoir Emptying Time

What you show here are parameters for a pond. Routing a flood through the pond is what we are interested in. A small flood may only get to 761 whereas a larger flood may get to the 763 elevation. As flow enters the pond, the level of the pond increases and begins to flow (albeit, a small...

    TR-20/WinTR-20 Reservoir Emptying Time

Given the rate of flow out of the storage pond, those "Time to Empty" estimates appear about right! If you are not that patient, you might try increasing the amount of flow that is permitted to leave the pond. It takes about 12 hours to drain 1 acft with a flow rate of 1 cfs. That's 43,560...

    Street Flow

HEC-22 by the Federal Highway Administration is a great publication and indeed it had the answers in it that I needed albeit they were answers I already had. I was looking for an easier way to model flow overtopping a hill but there is quite a variety of possible sections. FlowMaster by...

    Street Flow

Invariably, a street must come to a sump. In most cases, overflow is directed over the curb and down an open channel. However, in some cases, the overflow is directed over a hill in the street. As flow from a 100 year event (1% chance) event is allowed to reach two feet from the flow line...

    Cover Letter too Late?

The cover letter and resume are instruments used to obtain an interview. Since you already have an interview obtained, the cover letter and resume are no longer needed. It would be good to have a resume on hand in case one is requested. The team of interviewers can then make copies of it for...

Particular Issues for Storm Pipe, 100' drop/1300 ft

I would target a maximum velocity of 9 ft/s to prevent excessive turbulence in the downstream MH's. The cross sectional area of a 36" RCP is 7.069 SF, Q=vA=63.6 CFS. Derived from Mannings formula, the c value (c=(1.486/n)AR^2/3)for 36" RCP is 666 for n=0.013 so the slope that gives this flow...

    Pump Curve Run-out

An optimum H-Q BEP should be sought at a mid-point of conditions. The duty point will shift back and forth along the curve as conditions change. The NPSHa is usually stable in a Water Treatment Plant not fluctuating more than a foot. As demand increases, more treatment is taking place...

    TR-55 Hydrograph

It's HEC-2 and HEC-RAS that should match, my apologies. It would be extremely difficult to match hydrographs.

    TR-55 Hydrograph

TR-55 is a hydrology modeling software as are HEC-1 and HEC-HMS. FEMA requires matching an existing HEC-1 model with a HEC-HMS model. I typically use TR-55 to obtain all the variables needed for input into HEC-HMS but this is done manually. Are you trying to compare the hydrographs?
