If one is retrofitting (new ahu,new controls, new insulation) a large VAV system which have humidity problems, would you try to solve it by installing a new terminal reheats or would you rely on the new AHU and controls upgrade without the reheat terminals.
I beleive that if the AHU is selected...
Hello!
I am looking for practical information regarding how to determine the duct insulation thickness for an air handler duct system. The information I have found so far is ambiguous since it determines the heat loss per foot for insulated and an uninsulated duct but the thickness is an input...
I agree with you all that having the certification is priceless in terms of searching a job but when trying to stretch the advantages of being licensed it can become sort of complicated. Maybe I was too idealistic. The use of licenses for doctors, lawyers and so on seems to be plain and simple...
Sometimes I question the validity of the licensing process because sometimes you have to face very strange situations among the engineering professionals. A few months ago I went to an interview for an engineering design firm. During the formal interviewing questions the engineer in charge told...
Reading at catalogs can be quite confusing because most manufacturers make a lot of assumptions and sometimes a lot of mistakes. Try to understand well the basics before looking at catalogs.
The information I think you need is the following:
1. COP -heat absorbed at the evaporator divided by...

The compressor does not have cooling capacity but a compression ratio. The compression ratio shall be selected depending on the refrigerant flowrate and the temperature limits of the refrigeration cycle.
Also, an hermetic compressor is less efficient than a semihermetic one. The...
Try by contacting the fan manufacturer to obtain test data matching your fan specifications or
just check the airflow requirements for the load and the pressure drop of the system to estimate the fan original requirements. This is not exact because the conditions of the system may have changed...

You should work backwards in order to achieve a defined static pressure in the control room. Determine how much static pressure you need in the room and then select a ventilation fan that provides the amount of total pressure needed including pressure losses in the ducts.
