I want to run new cooling water supply and return headers for a few air compressors. Headers will be taken off very large CW supply/return plant headers.
I have sized the supply header to the compressors.
Is it recommended to increase the return header diameter by one pipe size to promote...
Yes, I'm aware of steam induced waterhammer. That is partly why I asked the question. The other reason I asked is because flash steam in the condensate line after the trap can add significantly to required line size.
I believe there is a way to combine all the steam trap discharges into a...
1250psig 900F superheated steam is routed from a main to atmosphere through an 1-1/2" line. The line is about 150ft long with (3) 90's. How can I calculate the maximum flow to atmosphere?
thanks.
I thought I read somewhere that if the common condensate header is sized correctly then pressure differences ahead of the traps are OK.
But how to account for that in the sizing of the condensate header?
I have several traps that are running in individual lines to a vented receiver tank. I would like to combine the discharge of the traps into a single line that goes into a new vented receiver tank.
The traps are all operating at varying upstream pressures..30psig, 175psig, 400psig, and...
Hello,
I want to pipe the discharge from some steam traps to the bottom of a condenser that is maintained at about -27inHgA.
Since the condenser connection is only 10ft(net) higher than the trap, I believe the condenser vacuum will be able to pull the condensate from the trap without any...
I have a small blower that is taking coal dust from a rotary airlock and blowing it into a bunker. I know blower hp, rotary airlock rpm, blower rpm, cfm, pressure, density of coal dust, and conveying line size. Is there a way I can calculate/estimate performance?
Thanks.
I want to calculate how much gas we would need to burn to heat the water in the package boiler up from ambient to 375F.
Can I just assume that I'm only heating the water at the boiler efficiency provided by the manufacturer? Or do I need to take into account the heating of the tubes, drum...
We have a package boiler that feeds saturated steam into a common header that goes to process. There are two manual block valves right off the steam drum, but no non-return valves. There is a coal-fired boiler that also feeds into this header via a turbine. There is a control valve (with...
Hello,
I have snuff steam lines running to coal bunkers (mixture of IL and Western coal) and would like to verify that the lines are adequately placed and sized.
Does anyone know of references on the web that could provide information such as how much steam needs to flow in what period of time...
Hello,

Does anyone know of references on the web that could provide information such as how much steam needs to flow in what period of time to fight a fire in a coal bunker...
Assume ammonia vapor at 100F, 100psi, in a 3" SS pipe. Assume pipeline is very long and is connected to a bulk tank (also at 100psi, 100F) with an unlimited quantity of ammonia.
Now assume this pipeline breaks. So you have a 3" line that is vented to atmospheric. How can I calculate...
Well I got a Kynar quill with large wall thickness. I'm pleased with the stiffness, looks like it may be hardy enough for my application.
If not, I'll definitely look into tantalum-lining, dcguffey...I had no idea this was an option.
Thanks.
For start-up conditions where condensate loads will be relatively heavy, operators will open manual valves to quickly evacuate condensate and air.
Our driplegs are large and well-designed.
