    Conference? What do you suggest?

What about a nonfea conference, but major conference in your field that would have a technical subgroup that uses fea or other computational methods? Heck, even if it didn't have a computational subgroup, just immersing yourself in the problems of the industry and seeing what is being attempted...

    Spine model

Not sure what you want to animate exactly, but as a first attempt, you could assume the spine is just a rigid connection between the head and pelvis. www.probasci.com - Implantable FEA for medical device manufacturers

    Knee, Hip and Ankle Angles

I don't think there is a universal accepted standard for ankle angles. You really need to check your particular brand of software's manual. If I had to pose a guess, I'd say -10.66 is dorsal flexion and 19.47 is plantar flexion. www.probasci.com - Implantable FEA for medical device...

    FEMAP NODAL STRESS

In my version of FEMAP (8.3) you can't request stresses on nodes, only elements when you set up the analysis file. All of the associated stresses are only available on elements (at least for tet meshes. I think when you use the manual probe, you are actually getting averages calculated from...

    Mesh refinement with FEMAP V9.2

Have you tried selecting both curves at the dividing line and use a constant mesh size? You could also try slicing the solid into a smaller section at your region of interest and treat as two solids with matching meshes at the interface. www.probasci.com - Implantable FEA for medical...

    Mesh refinement with FEMAP V9.2

I've been using v8.3, so this may not exactly apply to your version. You can use the Mesh > Mesh Control > Size along curves or Size on Surface commands to locally refine the surface mesh before extending it into 3D. Be careful that you keep mesh continuity with adjacent curves/surfaces...

    TOQUE IN A RIGID SURFACE

Having two deformable bodies may be causing you problems. Try making one rigid. www.probasci.com - Implantable FEA for medical device manufacturers

    TOQUE IN A RIGID SURFACE

Your elements may not support torques. Try a different element type, or apply a force couple. www.probasci.com - Implantable FEA for medical device manufacturers

trying to reproduce the results of a test

I'm not sure if you are doing an automated fatigue analysis within your package, but I'd start with a simple static load analysis at the peak load and see how that compares to the yield / failure stress. Since your analysis of the previous design places peak stresses at the observed failure...

trying to reproduce the results of a test

Do you have a previous analysis to compare to? A previous design that you can test under the same boundary conditions to compare with? Can you do a quick manual analysis to compare? Are you approximating a dynamic load with a peak static load? www.probasci.com - Implantable FEA for medical...

    Rigid Work Schedule

During my first evaluation at a true "industry" job, I was told my work was great, my performance was great, but I wouldn't get an above average raise because my hours (7:30 - 4:00 w/ half hour lunch at my desk - approved by mngmnt) were causing grumbling amoung others who saw me leave early. I...

Solidworks to Femap, how to create mid-plane

I don't do midsurfacing so maybe this is silly, but can you explode the solid into surfaces, or export from solidworks as an iges with surface only and mesh those? www.probasci.com - Implantable FEA for medical device manufacturers

Advice for new grad wanting to eventually be self employed

FE analysing a sheep hip joint

google "visible human" and you should be able to find geometry data for human. I don't have a convenient source for sheep. www.probasci.com - Implantable FEA for medical device manufacturers

FE analysing a sheep hip joint

I've done computer simulations of knee and spine, but no hip. This type of work is typically the realm of universities due to the complexities of modeling biological tissues. www.probasci.com - Implantable FEA for medical device manufacturers
