We are fabricating a job that requires a paint specification with the finish colour SHELL YELLOW, I assume this to be Shell as in Petroleum
Can any one of you experts tell me the RAL or BS number for this yellow
Thanks to you both for your response, it will help me back up my line of reasoning.
However for some common sense do’s not prevail and as AWS D1.5 is not a code I’m working with, I’m still left with the controlling code of AWS D1.1
WELD PROFILES
• AWS D1.1 sec 5.24.4 Groove or Butt Welds, states groove welds shall be
made with a minimum face reinforcement ……………..
• AWS D1.1 sec 5.24.4.1 Flush Surfaces, states “butt welds required to be flush shall be finished so as to not reduce the thicknesses of...
For the clarification of EN 2871-1 welding processes can any one help with the correct definition of AgCo2 gas as active or inert?, we use a mixture of 80/20 for welding

Thickness of test material?
No I didn’t realise this, can you point me in the direction of the Code to qualify this?
I’m finding the Da-Vinci code easier to decipher than ASME IX !
I intend to test welders on 1" plate and use the radiographic substitution in place of bend tests (QW 142)
My question is what table do I use to calculate the thickness qualified?
QW 4521-1 gives me "Maximum to be welded" and QW 452-2 gives me "2t"
I'm sure this has been questioned before, have...
Will any one please help and clarify the Pipe diameter range as shown in Table 5
The part that I am strugling with reads:
Material thickness D > 25 =
Range of Qualification ? 0.5 x D (25 mm min)
Thanks for the response GRoberts & HgTX
The welding parameters used in the WPQR for the root:-
Amps 90 Volts 24, is this in the short-circuit dip transfer range?
The fillers were welded using a range from 163-174 amps and 21-23 volts
To me it seems as if I have a weld made part with...
I intend to test welders to a WPQR that was approved using a metal core wire (AWS A5.18 E70CGMH4) for the root & a Fluxcore Wire (AWS A5.29 E81T1-Ni1M) for the fill & cap
I note that AWS D1.1 allows a substitution of RT for guided bend tests, except for joints welded by GMAW-S
Is this...
