Just poking around on US supplier websites it seems to me that the H indicates 75C and the HH indicates 90C. I also found where H indicates 75 C and the "2" indicates 90C. Then I ran into XHHW-2 and now I'm really confused. Anyone know?
Does anyone have experience with buried HDPE force-main flange connections or a suitable design, such as encasement, to protect these joints? The situation is for a 48" and 54" FM project, on steep grades, where it will be difficult to use a fusing machine in the trench. The flange joints are...
T-liner is a great method to repair laterals. (Star for bimr!) If all you need to do is to seal the connection then chemical lateral seal with a top hat may be all you need.
Inserta Tee is great for open excavation. This repair/connection method cannot be done remotely.
The issue is that the normal practice is to use the tripods as a means of access. I just want to know if this is an allowable practice. I'm trying to design a drop manhole in limited space and my constraints are such that a ladder cannot be put in the manhole nor can steps or rungs be...
My question is regarding the use of the tripod system for manhole entry:
Is it acceptable to use the tripod as a primary means of accessing a vertical manhole or is it only meant as a backup safety device for retrieving an injured worker? A "CFR" or some other reference would be helpful.
One more question, Dick. In researching the WRc manual, I found that the 4th edition is the last "Sewerage Rehabilitation Manual". It has been superceded by the on-line version and renamed, "Sewerage Risk Management". What I want to know is if I subscribe to the new SRM, will I get what I...
Bimr, thanks for the suggestion. I checked and unfortunately it doesn't seem to apply.
Dick, the existing spec calls for liner thickness for round pipe to be provided by use of ASTM F1216 and for non-circular pipe to be provided by the beam method. The contractor will submit his liner...
Thank you, civilperson. The liner will be cured by steam rather than water, however, the liner thickness must first be calculated to withstand the external loading. We spec ASTM F1216-07b for calculating the liner thickness of round pipe applications. Non-circular pipes, such as this egg...
I have a specification to design a liner for non-circular gravity flow pipe using the beam method. There is no reference to any ASTM or other standard regarding the beam method. Any information on this method would greatly be appreciated.
CarlB- Yes, it is more of a curb. The pan will also make it easier to incorporate a drain. Thanks for the tip. The oil is #2 fuel oil. I will deal with the asphalt issue in the unlikely event that I have a spill.
civilperson- Thank you. I have a PE certify all of my containments upon...
I've been tasked with designing an oil spill containment. The best design is to build a concrete wall, approx. a foot high, perpendicular to an asphalted slope of about 1:10. My PE says he threw out all of the old concrete design books, and no other references are available or authorized for...
