good afternoon, I am wondering if there is a standard practice for flanged, cone type, temporary strainers for when they are removed post flush. Is the strainer replaced with a spacer and the two gaskets or perhaps is there a thicker gasket which would fill the resulting gap?

We ordered standard B16.9 fittings but some of them came with a reduced ID. For example, an 8" - Schedule 160 tee. The nominal ID that we expected would be 6.813". What was supplied was a tee with an ID of 4.96". We did not find this out intil system flow testing. We were not getting the...
I would like to know if there is an industry standard or what a reasonable value would be for the ID roughness for a 38" 1.75" wall P11 forged and bored pipe. Is the value something I would have to specify to a supplier?

is it acceptable to weld a stainless steel thermowell into a carbon steel sockolet. This will result in a fillet weld between two dissimilar metals with coefficients of thermal expansion which differ by ~ 50%.

The vendor fabricated the elbows by bending S-80S pipe and then counter-bored the ends to match the S-40S connecting pipe. The vendor than stamped the elbows as being...
I was under the impression that the B16.5 flange working pressures were absolute limits which could not be exceeded. However, looking at ASME III article NC-3000 section 3658.3 there are factors from 1.1 for Level B to 2.0 for Level D events. The section says that the pressure shall not exceed...
maybe I missed something, but if you calculate the required wall thickness of a pipe to be 0.360" (for example), including any allowances for threading or erosion, etc., you will not be able to order standard wall piping or .375 nominal wall pipe because the vendor is allowed to supply the pipe...
Does anybody know when the AWWA C207 standard changed the bolting requirement from only mentioning A307 bolting to A307 bolting for Class B & D and A-193 bolting for Class E & F.
also, AWWA C207-01 lists only A194 nuts regardless of the bolt material in lieu of what can be found in the A307...
