Pressure and resulting stress on surface

Hi Garland, I don't have the book, but I just ordered it. -The plate is a curved rectangle, shaped like a half-pipe -The pressure is unevenly distributed on the concave surface -Two surfaces are fixed. If the plate was extended to a full cylinder, then the fixed surfaces would be located by...

Pressure and resulting stress on surface

Hi, In essence, I'm simulating a plate which is supported by bars that run along the plate's edges. A pressure is applied on the plate's surface and the system is exposed to a gravitational field. I run the simulation and then look at the stresses in the plate's normal direction on the...

    Alow more iterations

Thanks for your reply. I have one rough contact and I reduced the stiffness of this contact. Now it takes 13 iterations. I think that the default value in WB is 40. At least, I haven't changed it knowingly. Take care, Pingen

Coefficient ratio exceeds 10^8 - check results

The model contains two materials and the Young's modulus are about the same. However, I'm doing a thermal-structural analysis and the thermal conductivities differ by a factor 4. Cheers, Pingen

    Alow more iterations

Hi, My solution almost converged on the 40th iteration, things were steadily looking better, then Ansys aborted due to the large number of iterations. How do I increase the number of allowed iterations? Pingen

Coefficient ratio exceeds 10^8 - check results

Hi, What does the warning: "Coefficient ratio exceeds 10^8 - check results" mean? Pingen

    Your thoughts on convergence

Hi, I added a rought surface constrain in WB, and now the solution seems to take forever. It's currently processing the 19th iteration and the solution has not been converging steadily. It seems like it converges for a few iterations, then makes one big diverging step and so the cycle goes...

    Selecting parts

That's a good idea, Brian. The thing is that I transfered the model from WB to Classic and I have done a substantial amount of work since and I don't think I can move back to WB and then return to Classic and pick up where I left (or can I?). Thanks, Pingen

    Selecting parts

Hi, I'm working on an element model which I have transfered from WB to Classic. The model is an assembly and Ansys shows the different parts in different colors. What is the easiest way to select one of these parts? Since Ansys gives them different colors, it seems reasonable to think that...

Stresses in the nodes, much higher than in between

Hi, I find that, in some areas, the stresses are much higher in the nodes than in between the nodes. It's safer to go with the higher values, but is is also more accurate? Can I adjust the interpolation of the stresses to make the values flow more smoothelly between the nodes? I have a...

    Illustrate varying pressure

Hmm.. I just changed some values in the table and then changed them back again, and now I can see the color pattern. I think my problem was caused by ANSYS not using the whole table, and now it does. I guess I must have corrected something without knowing. Cheers, Pingen

    Illustrate varying pressure

Hi cbrn, I apprechiate your reply, but I don't really understand it. What do you mean by "enter POST1"? I'm using a table btw. Pingen

    Illustrate varying pressure

Hi, I have applied a varying pressure on my structure. I would like to illustrate the variations in the pressure by colors. How do I do that? Currently the pressure is just displayed in red. Pingen

Where can I read the warnings?

Hi, When I ask Ansys to excecute the calculation it tells me that there is a warning, and asks me if I still want to run the simulation. Where can I read what this warning says? Pingen

    Temperature stresses

Ahh, sorry about the stupid question. It was too trivial. I take it back. Pingen
