Solidworks crashes when trying to modify part

Hello, Thank you for that. I have now managed to open the features to modify them by leaving Solidworks for half an hour! trying to open them but then it gets really slow. It had no happened with my other parts as they were not as complicated as this one. I have Solidwork 2017 So shall I try...

Solidworks crashes when trying to modify part

Thanks Oh dear, back to the drawing board then (no pun intended) At the moment the only thing I can think of is the graphics card as I think it is not one of the ones apporved by Solidworks. Can it do this, just display the wait gif until it says 'not responding'?

Solidworks crashes when trying to modify part

Hello, Thank you for the reply. Yes, I think that, first, the best thing to do is to upload the file and see if it causes trouble to other people. Please try to open 2 o 3 features as if you were modifying them and see if you get a problem. If you do not have a problem, then it is something in...

Solidworks crashes when trying to modify part

Hello, I have this problem with Solidworks crashing when trying to edit a feature, even trying to change the height of an extrusion. I have received an assembly and parts together in one folder. They are from a previous Solidworks version and I have saved the parts for Solidworks to update...

    Moving sub-asemblies

Thanks, I see, so it looks like I have to modify the sub-assembly, to move it, in its own file then save it as a configuration, then insert one version of the sub-assembly for each position I want to illustrate in the main assembly. It also looks like I cannot see the movement of the whole...

    Moving sub-asemblies

Hello ctpooher, I mean move the whole soub-assembly like this: Supposing you have made a sub-assembly with all the parts (components) of the trunk of a car. The rest of the car is in the main assembly. You want to see how the trunk opens so you want to rotate/move the whole trunk sub-assembly...

    Moving sub-asemblies

Hello, I am relatively new to Solidworks. I have created an assembly with a number of sub-assemblies. I am trying to move whole sub-assemblies to see them in different configurations, ideally saving the configurations, but is too difficult to do it. Sometimes they will not move, sometimes only...

    RECOMMEND A CAD TRANSLATOR

Some of this translators look useful. The only difficulty I have now is that the sellers of CAD software are getting increasingly difficult to deal with. They want you buy their software without trying it or they don't bother to answer messages with questions about their software or they don't...

    RECOMMEND A CAD TRANSLATOR

It looks like the posting I put yesterday did not go through. I was saying that yes, I am trying to prop up my old system I-DEAS NX while I replace it with something like Solidworks. I only want to spend a few hundred pounds (or dollars). My system can accept IGES and VDA but only if IGES is...

    RECOMMEND A CAD TRANSLATOR

Hello, My CAD package is getting a bit old and clunky, it cannot import STEP files. Can anyone recommend one of those translator programmes that can translate between formats like STL, IGES, STEP and maybe solidworks PRT models. It would also be an advantage if it could do things like...

    Modeler Tolerance errors

Thanks a lot, this works. I did not know these commands. I think that the solution is to use the first command to change the tolerance of the offending part to whatever tolerance the model file has, which can be checked with the second command.

    Modeler Tolerance errors

Thanks but I have a version that does not seem to have that command "Modify special techs". I have version 10NX.

    Modeler Tolerance errors

I have been using I-DEAS for many years and recently I started getting error messages that I had not had before: 1- When checking in a part (that was not imported from another system but created in the model file) in the library I get a warning message: "this part was not created with the...

Problem export to IGES and I-DEAS

Thanks for the feedback. I have also noticed that even that Edrawings software has trouble importing the enormous files that some people make. I have tried to inmport files in STEP and IGES of 50Mb in size and upwards and the software just stops responding as it tries to import them.

Problem export to IGES and I-DEAS

Thanks all for the feed-back. This thing about exporting to VDA is interesting. I have to try it.
