Dear memebers,
I've a question about the weldability of A 694 F 46 with A 333 Gr 6 .is there any thing to be considered in terms of Chemistry ,heat treatment and welding consumable while welding these two materials.
appreciate your inputs

Dear members
My vendor is offering the Body Gas test as per API 6A PSL 3G in which the method to detect the leak is by sniffing probes over the areas of leakage suspected. but in case of API 6A referring the Test shall be conducted in submerged water bath .whether the method...

Dear all,
In Valves to avoid contact between two dissimilar material (Carbon steel and Inconel 625/DSS trim parts)cladding/weld overlay will be applied on contact area.
Can any one give guidlines to select suitable cladding /weld overlay material for below combination.

I hope ASME defines the rate of heating and cooling based on thickness. we are using some thumb rule as 5500/t(thickness in mm)to calculate rate of heating and cooling.
Dear All,
One of My Client Specification refers stress relieving as Holding in 600 + or - 10 Deg C as per thickness requirement (say 1hour per inch thick) and cooling in still air without any controlled cooling.
In my opinion the Stress relieving will heating in a controlled way from...
Thanks a lot for all your efforts and inputs.
As said by rneill & Sjones for a unlisted material we can compare with an equivalent listed material provided chemical, mechanical properties, heat treatment, method of manufacturing are same as per 302.2.3 of ASME B 31.3.
In our case the A 182 F51 UNS...
Dear all,
what is minimum design temperature without Impact testing for ASTM A 182 F 51 DSS Forging as per ASME B 31.3 .If i use this material in my valves upto design temperature minus 20 Deg C the material shall be impact tested or not? please clarify .
One of our client specification says Ferrite number testing for Nickel alloys. In my knowledge Ferrite number testing is applicable for Stainless steel and Duplex stainless steel welding.
I feel the Nickel alloys (Alloy UNS N06625,N08825 &N08028 -Incoloy& Inconel)welding ferrite number testing is...
AS per ASME Section IX the welder Performance qualification -thickness of weldmetal qualified range is given as
1. "All" weld metal thickness ----range of approval is 2 times the thickness welded
2.13mm and above with minimum three layers -range of approval is maximum to be welded
I could...
Thank for all replies.
DSS Duplex Stainless steel of UNS NO 31803 and 32607(25%Cr Super Duplex Stainless steel)which we are using in sour service with Service temperature min 5 and max 82 Deg Celsius.
