when I draw construct a line normal to a surface, it doesn't measure so.
here attached a .prt of a dia. 4" sphere and a normal to it line.
line-to-sphere measures 45° and 135°.
How to measure a line to surface angle properly in NX?
NX12 Version 1899
Thanks...
unfortunately NX have few shortcuts, and telling users to make their own is not very helpful.
I used Alt-M combos: do a command once, remember the combo and use it many-many times.
Alas, after we switched to NX12 Alt-M combos became a pain:
now have to wait like 1 second between each letter...
I watched fragments of your tutorial at about 10 time spots for about 15 seconds.
IMHO: Your English is good, but too low information density. 75% of words could be dropped, video reduced to 10 min, if not 5.

Trying to place a studio spline from a point to an edge of a surface so that it would stay tangent to the surface, when surface shape updates. Doesn't work. A fixed constraint is created that does not update.
Export either to new or existing in session file works only with loss of all parameters. That's not acceptable solution in my particular situation.
Thank you for the suggestion.
thread561-207675
file was deleted from disk, while open in NX9, native mode.
Save doesn't work.
"Save as" doesn't work.
Why?
May be it's a feature, not a bug? Why can't UG lock the file on disk, as most programs do? Another feature?
Any solutions to this situation?
Thank you.
I'm aware of Bridge and yes, Fit often is a good substitute.
Yet the question remains: is Studio spline tool limited to planar curves? and if not -- how to draw a non-planar Studio spline ?
is it possible in NX9 to draw a studio spline NOT constrained to a plane?
I'm in NX9
I'm trying to close some gaps, need to connect a corner to a nearby face's edge keeping everything tangent. Keep getting a spline on one of the WCS planes.
Spent an hour trying and googling. Nothign... Thanks !
Thank you, all.
I had to open sketch in Sketch Environment. During direct edit of the sketch its not available (see screenshot)

after switch to NX9 I can't find "orient view to model". Does anyone knows where is it?
Also, when trying to redefine the sketch the model does not back up cluttering the sketch with features created later. Do I need to make the sketch current feature every time I want to edit it?
Thanks!
I'm sure this forum community is already considering buying you NX license. LOL
John, thank you for the years of great support! Have a great retirement!
John,
circular references could happen with driving dimensions as well.
Try to set p1=p2 and p2=p1 and NX9 will just ignore last entry without warning.
I understand that driving dims. dependencies are written explicitly, and it's trivial to catch circular refs. on the explicit dependency...
Thank you for confirming, gentlemen.
Still I disagree.
1) it's not an orphan, it has parents it depends on. It is driving dimensions that are usually orphans. Reference dims. are put to measure what's established by driving dims.
2) all dependency graphs start with orphan nodes and end with...
is it a bug or a "feature" :
sketching dimension set to be equal to reference dimension is allowed but does not drive the sketch.
In the attachment I set p5=p4, but it does not do anything (NX9)...
