Well of course we have named views... and I can create new named views... but that will always zoom me in or out the that specific view. All I really want is the orientation... which is what the "Sketch View" command does in the sketcher. I notice the Sketch View does not change your zoom and...
Thanks for the reply. I did put it on the floating tool bar... but I still count at least (4) clicks. Maybe I'm not doing it right.
-Click Reorient Icon
-select Front
-select Top
-OK
They have the (1) click icon in the sketcher...
I never realized how much I used this in my old program...
In our previous CAD software I could position my model parallel to the screen with (1) click...
With Creo 2.0 I've got it down to (4) by putting the "Reorient" command on the toolbar.
Is there a faster way to do this that I have not discovered yet?
Thanks
Thanks SparWeb... I liked the 80's !
I've done many Batch Files... I like your solution. I never thought about using a spreadsheet to duplicate the command sequences... good one! But...
The folders where the iam files reside are Read Only and I can't put my exe file in there or write a text...
Thanks for the reply! I still don't quite have a solution...
The two column solution would work fine because the output would be...
"...from all the iam files in a folder." It would output the list from the sub-assembly iam's as well.
I have an exe program that does that today... but it...
We don't use Vault....
I guess we will take this to

Thanks for the reply! I've tried BomXTractor, which is great, but like you said... it does one at a time... and the output is really more than I need.
I could have thousands of IAM files to look at.
I've done a lot of VB for MS Access... but I haven't used it in Inventor (2012) yet.
If I...
From a Windows7 Command Line... I would like to run a program that would extract the parts list from all the iam files in a folder. CSV output would be fine. I'd like to get 2 columns... one for the parent (repaets as needed) and the other for the related child part number. Is there a way to...
Thanks for the reply.

This assembly has a lot of intricate, internal detail that I don't need. I just need the outer shell (envelope) so I can bring this assembly into a large layout.
I have assembly that I want to turn into an "Envelope" part.
I have my assembly open, I open the Envelope Manager, create New, select the components... and then I'm stuck.
I'm sure we could do it with a macro... but I'm trying to eliminate a step.
The database we are importing to... is looking for a specific format.
We don't have any control over the database code so I was hoping to tweak the output directly from Inventor.
