Joe,
You are correct that my machine already has MS-Office on it and yes I could easily copy out the file or files in question to view them on the native program. I am just trying to eliminate the step of having to copy the files out of the vault. Also, it would be nice if we could print our...
Hello all,
We use PDMWorks and recently started checking in Office files, mainly Word and Excel. I know that PDMWorks uses Edrawings for viewing SolidWorks files and according to my VAR, Edrawings does not work with Office files. My question is this; does anyone know of a way to be able to view...
Like you, we used to get the same error message. Our VAR instructed us to do a hard rebuild, ctrl+Q, for every configuration the file in question may have then save it. It works for us.

We had the same problem when we "upgraded" to SW2008 from SW2007. You did not mention if you were using PDMWorks or not, but in our case it had something to do with a setting in our PDMWorks options. With the help of my VAR we were able to track down. Don't ask me what it was or exactly why it...
Just a thought. Does skipping service pack have a negative affect on the installations? We went straight to SP 4 on 2008.

CorBlimeyLimey,
I just might have to do that, if the users complain loud enough. If it was up to me I'd just get new hot dog machines. As for updating our files, we never update the files. They get updated on an as needed basis. I don't believe that would have much of an impact, other actually...
The lag is between 3 to 7 seconds and it's in both instances, editing the sketch or double clicking the solid. It is weird, on my machine it is 3 seconds on other users it is over 5 but below 8 seconds. All of our machines are the same; expect for the amount of accumulated junk I'm sure.
In...
Thank you for the quick response Jeff.
We upgraded this past weekend. Our upgrade was a new install through an admin image. We still have 2007 on our machines and probably will for a few more days. Our systems are a few years old, but still reasonably good with the exception of the graphics...
Hello all,
We recently upgraded to SW2008, had no reason to do it earlier, and now our users are complaining that editing a sketch takes much longer than in 2007. I have compared the two and there definitely is a difference. My question is this, is the delay in 2008 when double clicking on a...
This is an enhancement request that I submitted back in 2006 when we first switched to PDMWorks. Maybe if more people submit the same enhancement request, Solidworks will take notice.

Tick,
Thanks for the reply. I picked a VB for dummies book a while back. However, I think it is really out of date.
Do you have any recommendations?
Matt,
I do not have any exposure to programming other than the macros I pick up from here or the net. I know you and the Tick have written some...
Hello All,
I know that are a lot of SolidWorks users and programmers here that have posted some very useful code and macros. I use them but unfortunately, don't understand how they work or what the code means. I think programming is something that I would like to learn. Soon, I might have an...
Hello everyone,
I am puzzled as to why I am not able to get the copy settings wizard to work. I am trying to copy my settings from my work computer which is running SW2007 to my home computer on which I have installed SW2008 for testing.
I able to copy them out fine from my work computer but...
We used to have that "failed to save document" error while trying to save all the time. We figured out that it was one of two things. First, the user trying to save the file might have had too many solidWorks files open or second
there was literally not enough room on the hard drive to save the...
